  1. great news kylejack! they said the signs that were up were just for their soft opening and beginning may 20th they will be open 7am to midnight 7 days a week!
  2. Common Bond has it's soft opening TODAY!
  3. i call it Highland Village area all the time because its not part of the Galleria or River Oaks area as it really is it's own stand alone place/area in my opinion! anyway...wow one whole page on what to call an area...geez haha!
  4. i live at the sister property (or at least same management) and they told me that they have an apartment around 600 sq ft for approx 1600.00 per month...super nice place but wont be moving any time soon to this place haha!
  5. Common Bond had a friends and family event yesterday during the westheimer street party festival...place was super small but cool and shocked to see that forever they had announced it would be a late hours establishment, but new signs say closing every night at 7pm!?!? anyway, they said opening for sure May 15th.
  6. true that! I live on the other side of mcdonald's at Uptown Post Oak and I can vouch for the post above
  7. HUH!!!??? Crown Of Thorns!?!? I wish it was that cool!!! To me it looks like a giant empty fruit basket and i keep checking to see if they ever filled it with huge inflatable bananas, oranges and apples!!! doh!
  8. good lord that is an awesome pic and would love to live and work by that... oh wait...i do! lucky me!!! now if we could just get it to open
  9. Randall's on San Felipe and Sage as i have lived and worked within 1 block of it for the past 16 years and my Randall's card helps keep the prices low enough for me to be happy...and Central Market for specialty items or when shopping for a party or special occasion etc. Although...i am super excited about the upcoming Whole Foods on Post Oak which is just a couple of block away from where i live and work, so that will probably take over the role that Central Market plays! Love Whole Foods but the others were always closer and more convenient!
  10. www.wearecommonbond.com and www.facebook.com/wearecommonbond Supposedly finally opening this month (April 2014)! Crossing fingers! More Info here: http://houston.eater.com/tags/common-bond This upcoming cafe has already been touted as Houston's forthcoming "world-class" bakery due in large part to chef/owner Roy Shvartzapel of elBulli, Cyrus and Bouchon fame. Joining that esteemed culinary figure are Drew Gimma, Tony Stein, Jillian Bartolome and Alec Bartee, among others who have been working on recipes for months now. When the shop was announced last summer, Shvartzapel said that the name stemmed from the idea that he and his chefs share a common bond: "We are united in our passion to bring an outstanding product on every level to patrons from all walks of life." Once Common Bond opens in the 3,600-square-foot space across from Agora it will feature more than just sweet treats; there will be a full menu of savory dishes as well as beer and wine. It really will be THE new cool place in Montrose...if not all of Houston!
  11. all these photos are blowing my mind!!! thank you everyone for sharing them! i love living 2 lights away and working 2 blocks away from all of this! also, again, after speaking with both The Counter and Whole Foods they are saying a late summer/approx August opening date...
  12. hopefully a new location will bring better food and better prices haha... standing in line for an hour for the worst chicken and waffles was my biggest regret of 2013
  13. right...i agree as i was honestly shocked that a fast food chain was going on that huge plot of land... but again, love story of the guy that started RC as told here www.raisingcanes.com and they are "all fresh never frozen" which is awesome as they really do have amazing chicken tenders (and toast)!!! but you will be happy to know that just a walk down the street you will soon have the awesomeness that is Doc's Motorworks at the old Wendy's location swtsig!
  14. yeah bye bye Axis Apartment complex...wow, that thing burned fast!!! Hate that all that work will have to be redone... glad no one was hurt! http://www.click2houston.com/news/massive-blaze-burning-at-residential-building-under-construction/25156408
  15. Love me some Raising Canes...and wow such a huge lot across from The Phoenix (formerly Firkin and Phoenix)! http://swamplot.com/raising-canes-putting-its-chicken-fingers-on-westheimer-again-this-time-at-hazard/2014-03-24/

  17. cannot wait for a re-do of GRB...hate that they modeled it after a cruise ship to help symbolize that we are the Port Of Houston and port of the Gulf...super dated, super cheesy so re-model away!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
