With "Pink Cadillac" playing on the sound system?
-
Never going to happen in this town ever again. But you can always check out the Section 8s on Fondren. Or the offerings around Lake Worth in Fort Worth.
-
That was my point. Just more proof this is getting built.
BisNow says the Alessandra is still scheduled to open in late 2016.
One of the hold-ups is the same thing that is affecting all Houston projects - it's taken longer to get started because of higher costs and labor shortages. That may only get worse.
-
That is going to be verrrry difficult to fall asleep. Both because of the highway, and also because of all the Ambulences taking the road to St. Josephs. Did they mention what would become of the adjacent block? Is it a staging area?
Good soundproofing should make this a non-factor. Fort Worth has at least two residential wraps right up against a busy railroad track. There's not much disturbance inside, even when the windows are open.

The variance request was approved, looking to break ground 2Q 2015.
Nine months away. We'll see if it sticks to schedule.
-
The sure did this entirely piecemeal. Just for grins, what do you think would happen if the city only permitted Floors 2,3,5,7,10,12,16 and 19?
-
I suppose if this were Dallas, they could rename it Mary Kay Place.
(and let's see who gets it)

I drove by that lot on a Sunday morning at about 8am four months ago or so. Saw a man standing, pants on the ground, underwear on...... woman (maybe a woman) kneeling in front of him..... And now it's gonna be a bloomingdales.
So was he looking like a fool with his pants on the ground?

Absolutely great shot. That's an urban corridor.

That looks so realistic I thought the building was done.

Don't expect things to move very fast in this town. Backlog in the permitting office and shortages of labor and materials. Even boom towns have their limits.

If Pease gets some restaurants and a couple of night spots, it just might.

I guess the garage wasn't salvageable. They are knocking it down.
What goes down must come up.
-
Is it tall?
No. What I remember of the permit suggested this one's no more than a mid-rise.
-
It's a swamp lot!

The Josephine apartments are no where near this and they were demolished for town homes not a high rise.
I had the names mixed up. Post Oak Park, it is (er, was)
-
Well, they did the demolition, but the getting it built part is the tricky bit.

Et tu Larry?? Why?
Frankly, if we get a dozen Skyhouses all in a row, this town's going to start to look like on of those Chinese cities that just started building blocks of apartments one right after another.

I just attended a meeting of the Rice chapter of the American Society of Civil Engineers where architecture professor William Cannady discussed the development of this project in detail.
I always like hearing that my ASCE colleagues are keeping on top of things. When the T&DI Congress comes to town in two years, I'm hoping for a big turnout.

Five floors in five weeks? This one will be topped out by Election Day.

I can't imagine that Comcast is going to give up entirely on CSN, though that may be why the local sports teams are bitching.

From what I understand Dallas is experiencing a boom in its Uptown district.
It is - about a dozen projects. All in the 10-20 story range.
There are supposed to be more, but they are getting a lot of low-rise wraps west of downtown and in suburban locations.
The big news was the State Farm project, which is four buildings of various heights in Richardson. Toyota is also supposed to build a campus but I'm guessing it won't be like the Energy Corridor projects.
Some of the downtown skyscrapers have gone from office to residential, but still plenty of vacancies. I expect more conversions.
Both cities have definitely grown.

Whats the massive hill in the background on the left side? Or am I hallucinating?
Damn, the landfill is bursting!
