Saw construction leaving this just when I rode past on my bike...
Well, demolition, anyway...
-
Okay, so it's the principle of the thing...
At the end of the day, I don't see any impediments to this thing being built. Unless the developer starts getting cold feet...

The heavy rains last night turned this into a lake! Hopefully it doesn't slow them down too much, they have been making some really good progress recently.
That's not rain; that's flowable fill!

The appeal is by the developer. Given the limited number of plaintiffs and the small awards relative to the development cost of the building, I would have thought it was chump change just to get rid of a few ankle-biters.

Oddly enough, the people who are suing to stop the highrises because of the traffic they cause don't want the bus lanes to the rail line.

But the millionaires will love it.

We could never do that; the TSA would be all over us in an instant.

And another earthmover brings a fresh pile of documents to the courthouse.

I've been wondering lately, what percentage of tenants moving into these new downtown towers actually came from outside downtown? And what percentage of tenants back-filling the buildings their leaving are coming from outside of downtown?
I'm guessing there's a certain amount of relocation and a certain amount of expansion. Foster Wheeler's also in the market for an extra 325,000 sf somewhere.
And if Rick Perry's
bribesmarketing are successful, maybe there will be a California transplant or two in downtown Houston. -
I thought Landry's owned the land south of its headquarters. I'd be surprised to see him allow another concept to be built there.
What - Fertitta wants to build a casino there?

This one's going up as fast as Skyhouse.

Edit: I said this tower but I meant the one at Post Oak and San Felipe. Just another one of amREIT's properties. Still begs the question what will happen to the PAC.
It's confusing, I know. There are just so many rumored projects, and a lot of them seem to overlap. I still don't know if Crow's deal with AmREIT replaces the other Crow proposal.

It's still a 40-story building. I expect the PAC to hang around. Will the Cosmopolitan residents seek an injunction? All it takes is one person to file a suit.
I guess it only takes one judge to justify such a frivolous lawsuit.
If the NIMBY's are going to insist on zoning by lawsuit, it's time to put zoning back on the ballot. Otherwise, this is the city you all wanted - unregulated and proud of it. All the lawsuits should be thrown out for lack of cause.

I thought this was a residential building. Isn't the hotel located on another parcel?
-
Looks like old Wiakiki. Like it. Spires won't be so lonely now.
And on the other side will be that twisted tower. If that's still a realistic project.

I'm guessing another office building. The positioning makes sense.

'"The bar has been raised," said managing director Aaron Thielhorn.'
The building's going to have a mixed-drinks concession on the top floor?

I still see that stupid double decker bus >.> sheesh
It goes with the red phone booth.

Too bad St Johns grabbed all the land across the street. It could've been a great new dense development.
It will be dense development, depending on what "dense" is. St. John's currently has some major expansion going on at its campus.
The disappearance of this building and the Shell lab in Bellaire mark the passing of an era. Kind of like the closure of the HAL-PC club.

Heh, the bad news is the location is too successful, so the current tenants don't want to leave. I suppose it could be worse - a replay of 1986, perhaps...
-
Came across this the other day, project is for Houston but a location is not given,

This one was posted to SSP earlier this year. I'm not sure where it is. I'd have to do a search.

I count 12 all the way around. The center section has one floor of the 7 residential floors obscured.
-
Well, that's decidedly underwhelming. No interest in first floor retail?

I'm surprised they lopped two floors off the building. They didn't think they could find enough tenants?

Hilcorp is an independent oil and gas company. The property is being developed by Hines. I think the entire building will be occupied by Hilcorp.
