Glad to find this post. Just purchased the book! I can't believe we went backwards on this over the years. Glad to see us SLOWLY stepping forward again. Can you imagine how rich the city would be to have been able to revitalize along the same routes and stations?

For once, the rendering of a bunch of people making use of a space are true. Can't wait to check it out myself. Joggers eh?

It states "The latest advertising campaign in Mexico from Swedish..." Yeah that'll go swell in Mexico... but of course we're going to find pissed off comments on it in the U.S.
Wait what? We want to control what another country can or cannot do/say in another country? As long as they don't offend The U.S. X_X
Absolut tastes horrible anyway.

Oof. I don't think I could do it. Couple weeks ago I walked into my local Thai restaurant and ordered some to go. I felt akward just sitting there waiting for like 8 minutes, checking my phone as if I was actually busy. There was only one other table of people that had just arrived. I haven't tried it much though in a cool place. Could go for one of those "meet a guy" things.

awww....we're going to have a bunch of baby cranes!
How Adorable! Don't let Tripp Isenhour anywhere near.

No other pics sorry. Next time.

Nope. That would make me a hypocrite.

Are thre any other specifics besides Victorian style for this style of home? There are some more elaborate ones around the city and across the border. Definitely influenced a lot of the smaller regular homes in the area (and definitely not the new cookie cutter neighborhoods swallowing the city x_x ) I'll try to grab more photos next time.
And some bonus:

Rise from the dead my pretties.
Seriously I need a cut. I used to do the faux-hawk thing but have been letting my hair grow since mid August. Twas time for something new. Anyone been to Vertigo on Westheimer? Looking for a good place that'll know what they're doing even if I don't know what I want Visible Changes? x_x

A couple friends and I have become regulars. Haven't had any experiences. One of our waiter friends upstairs told us of the elevator accident story but she said she hasn't seen anything, and definitely to not waste our money on the tour thing. It's fun enough being the last ones eating up there alone after upstairs lunch closes.

So I passed by all the the crane action taking place on my way to Spaghetti Warehouse (is that place less laughable than Olive Garden?). I'm not too excited about the design. I would have more respect if it was constructed during it's time to shine, but now it totally loses any charm that would have been had. I mean if they built the Colosseum today in Houston... wouldn't be as spectacular as the real thing right? x_x
I tend to agree with you. However, I tend to want to look on the bright side; since Houston's downtown didn't see any major construction from 1985 to the late 1990s, this just might fill that design hole. Maybe it will help future generations forget the BUST.
That's an interesting perspective though...
"We owe it to the fields that our houses will not be the inferiors of the virgin land they have replaced. We owe it to the worms and the trees that the buildings we cover them with will stand as promises of the highest and most intelligent kinds of happiness."

It's probably because the lazy store clerk forgot to unlock the other door. I actually turn around and leave a business that only unlocks one side of a double door. I assume they are "Not Open for Business".
Not thus far as I'm always the one that discovers the magical door opens.

That's a pretty good job. Bathroom and Kitchen get an A. Definitely what "people these days" want; open feel, ready to embrace the world around us.
-
I hate when there's a herd of people rushing to get through one door but not one bothers to open the other door next to it.

It wouldn't be such a problem if we had an amazing public transportation system

I saw the billboard this weekend on 45 and thought "applause. clever." because they know some of us will be thinking about it and doing searches and whatnot. Damn they got even me. >

I could use a little boost of excitement today...
No? This isn't the magic post? Darn...
What was that? You say something?

Falling Travetine. Did we not learn from the Romans!?

They're not so bad. I wouldn't live there. It's nicer than any other generic complex you know could have gone up. I personally don't like clone complexes.
I know I'm a bit late on this but if you don't see the Koala with the photographs to compare I hope you're not a student in Arch

Speaking of which, the July 2007 issue of ENVY had a page on such containers. I rather like the idea a lot. Much potential.

Fire Hydrant Relocation
in Houston Construction, Home Repair, and Improvement
Posted
Hi all
I'm in the works of buying a very narrow lot within the loop, and it currently has a fire hydrant centered with the property. There's no room to make a driveway around it, it absolutely has to be moved. Does anyone have experience or knowledge of the costs and process associated with having it moved?
City is closed today, and was hoping to find information today.
Thank for your help!
