  1. The high rise scenes were filmed at 2016 Main, you can see the Houston House in the background. As for the uptown nightclub, it was Elan back then, on St. James near Yorktown. It is now a restaurant called The Courtyard.

Yes! It was later The Ocean Club. I remember people talking about that!

  2. Yes westguy, that was SkyScreamer--OMG! Freaked me out!!

I had many good memories, but unfortunately, one time I was there on a day that I wasn't supposed to be (my mother expressly told me not to go), and when I came home I found out my father died. I only went one time after that, needless to say it was not the same.

I am sad that it is gone though.

  3. Lizard Lounge (in both cities) is/was weak. It was for the X and Capri Cigs smoking crowd. Cheesedicks.

    OMG seriously!

I was 17 in '87 so it was hard to get into some places, but for the most part, I could do it. It was a big deal to go "into Houston" from Kingwood. It was awesome!

I liked 6400 early on, but ick to later. I liked Xcess better. NRG had the best music, IMHO. Numbers sorta scared me, but I guess that's why I liked it so much. I saw Nine Inch Nails there with the Jim Rose Side Show in 1987 (I think it was '87). I almost got trampled!!

Clubland, if I could get in, definitely. Decadance was harder to get into for some reason. I guess the bouncers were getting into trouble letting us in. I went to the Ocean Club ONE time. That was all that was needed.

I remember Red Square, Club Some and Power Tools. Gads, the names of these places!

Mid to late '90s I was going to Rich's all the time. Heaven, JR's, and Pacific Street too. I was a huge hag and we had quite an entourage. Lots of drinks, lots of other things. Not much to be proud of, but it was fun!

  4. Where was the first LifeForms home built? What floorplan was it? Did LifeForms build exclusively in the Woodlands, or did they branch out to other areas?

Someone mentioned in another post that LifeForms is no longer around. Aren't they located on Research Forest somewhere? Their homes are so nice that it would be a shame if they were gone.

LifeForms is no longer in business. If you check one of the earlier posts in this thread, a member gives a great history of their existence.

  5. 1818 Nocturne

I drove past this home the other day. It is in a nifty location and looks very familiar to me. I wonder who the architect was...does anyone know?

I really like Royal Oaks--the homes are beautiful and well-taken care of. I could see how that whole area could make a big comeback once I-10 is done.

  6. I drove through the areas of Shadow Bend and Royal Oaks (the OLD Royal Oaks in Spring Branch, not the new subdivision over by Kirkwood/Westheimer) today and I just LOVED Royal Oaks. I also liked Spring Lea, which is the neighborhood just behind the grain elevator-cum-storage unit off of Lumpkin Road. Hubby and I are looking. It's a neat, neat area. Royal Oaks looks IDENTICAL (and in fact, some of the homes are) to Memorial Plaza and Rustling Oaks, but the lots are larger in R.O. and the trees are enormous pines instead of oaks. I felt like I was in a different city! It was definitely worth checking out. The demographics are interesting, but I think that is mostly due to low-rent apartments along the north and east side of the area. It is SBISD, and both Shadow Bend and Westwood Elementaries have "Acceptable" ratings. It would be nice to see that improve over the next few years.
