memebag:
From http://www.annoyances.org/exec/show/article02-137:
"Open System Properties in Control Panel, choose the Advanced tab, and click Settings in the Performance section. Turn on the Use drop shadows for icon labels on the desktop option, and click Ok."
Thanks. But I followed those instructions and that option is already checked.
Pumapayam:Mine looks like that too, it happened about a year ago.
Everything works fine.
Sorry no answers here, but I thought I'd let you know, you are not alone.
Mine is working fine, too; I just want it gone because it's not what I'm used to seeing and I find it irritating to look at.

It looks like someone left clicked and highlighted everything on the desktop. I couldn't get it off so I restarted my computer just now and it's still that way. What do I do about it?

I was watching Lawrence Welk a while back and they were dancing to that song that goes, "Galveston, oh Galveston" or whatever it's called. The backdrop was desert and cactuses and of course the dancers were wearing cowboy hats. Made me want to scream.

Wow, you're right. My only guess is it's getting clicks from people Googling Shane McDermott. Maybe it's one of few sources for him out there, I don't know. He was popular for a while in the '90s. People don't forget.

It's too cold.

Are there any insiders here who have some information on this African Forest project that they can share? I had seen mentions of it but hadn't given it a lot of thought. Then I went to the zoo this weekend, saw the site on the map and was impressed with the size of it. On the map it says that it's opening in 2009. On Wikipedia it's fall of '08.
What exactly is the African Forest, since it covers such a large area? I'm really curious about it now.
Does anyone know why the fountain at Sarofim Court is still not finished? Or is it? It didn't have water in it, same as over two years ago. That's the last time I was there before this recent visit.
I love our zoo. I don't visit other zoos, so I can't compare. Almost went to the San Deigo Zoo once, but ended up not going. But this is the zoo I grew up visiting. And I just love the whole area surrounding the zoo. It's one of my favorite parts of Houston. It's beautiful.

I know for one thing that "Eastenders" doesn't put a lot of emphasis on attractiveness for its cast or good lighting. That surprised me a little after years of watching "Days of our Lives" and then turning on "Eastenders" for the first time.
-
I've seen "Eastenders". Can't understand a word they're saying.
-
I think the one I watched, "Mirada de Mujer" (mentioned above) must have been one of the more "reality" based ones. The majority of the cast wasn't too terribly good-looking; they weren't unattractive, but more average looking. The storylines weren't outlandish, and it looked like they filmed on actual locations rather than sets.
-
I used to watch one called "Mirada de Mujer" (it had English subtitles) on Univision. Or Telemundo. I can't remember.
Initially it was the novelty of it, then I guess I got hooked.
I liked the theme song the best:
-
The songs are so loud and abrasive and nasally: Teyaxess tuff! Built fer Teyaxans! Football, truuucks, beer, country music, Teyaxess!!
That crap's embarassing.
There used to be one with that country singer Toby Keith that was just unbelievable.

Why are Texas truck commercials so annoying?

I hate eating at the stadium. It overpriced and it's too messy to try to eat in that environment. I always get the least messiest item: the (cold) $26 pretzel and a $15 Coke without a lid. If any place you need a lid on your drink, it's at a stadium. And sometimes popcorn or cotton candy. I wouldn't dare go into nacho or BBQ territory in stadium seating.

I have tickets for Saturday.
My gosh, Ricco, you bought tickets in advance for that many games?
-
Thanks! I will call tomorrow.

I did some searching, but I was wondering if any of you had some recommendations for vets who do dog cataract removal in the Houston area. There's one that I know of, but it's a bit expensive. I expect them to all be, but I wanted to see if there are any others first. My dog is deaf and blind.

I like Fat Elvis better than Big Puma.

I don't like it.

Chamo:
I'm watching TV. I just saw the commercial for Sonic; the guy in the car with his wife (sometimes he is with a friend of his). Hate those commercials.
I like the two guys, but not the man and woman.

Sitting out on the patio might be different, too. I don't know why. It just seems if I were to eat alone at a restaurant, I'd feel more comfortable on the patio.

I won't be going opening day, but I plan on going to several games this season.

I caught part of a recent movie the other day about some gymnasts training in a Houston gym. The references were sort of vague, for example a Houston Chronicle banner hanging on the wall as a tournament sponser and one of the girl's mom had a crappy Texas accent. Perhaps the most ridiculous was when a Harris County emgergency vehicle pulled up oustide of the gym and there were mountains in the background. The movie wasn't very good.

Sorry it's already posted, but I didn't see it.

For the longest time I thought he was married to Gloria Estefan.
I hope he pulls out.

Nevermind. I was just playing around with it and clicked around on that blue box seen to the right of the pic that I posted, I clicked on that several times and then a little x appeared. I clicked the x and all the blue went away. Hmm.
Thanks!
