We all know bigger's not always better.
Wink.
Bigger is always better.

My parents have a stucco home and have never had any problems. They had the stucco applied about 15 years ago. They actually had a crew from Mexico come to Houston and do the stucco job. My parents did not want your basic stucco, they were looking for something more authentic. The only real upkeep is power washing once a year.

This is Mr. Price. Really. I can't stop laughing.
I think this is his Playgirl spread.

John Wiley Price is such an idiot. The comment was not even racist, yet he wants to make it racist. He should apologize for being an idiot.

If I recall, the Wortham was built mostly with donations (or a large part of donations) and was built on the cheap, but looks wonderful.
When I say bland, I am just saying in comparison to buildings like Transco (sorry, it will always be that to me!) and Republic Bank Tower.
Those were GREAT ... even outlandish! And they say HOUSTON!
Wortham looks wonderful? It is a red big red box.
Would love to have this guy develop some of our skyline:http://www.murphyjahn.com/english/frameset_intro.htm
They know style!
I agree with you on this one. His works really are impressive and make a real statement. I have always though of European architecture as more cutting edge. Again, that can be good or bad.

Has anyone heard rumors of MillerCoors moving to North Texas?
-
I think LA has some great architecture, perhaps some of the best in the nation. Eames, Neutra, Gehry, etc. They all have made huge and diverse marks upon the city. Some of my favorites happen to be the old spanish/hacienda structures.

"Moving to Dallas puts AT&T's corporate headquarters near many of its key technology suppliers and other telecom companies that have major operations in Dallas . . . "

Ran across this in while reading the New York Times. Could you imagine driving down Allen Parkway or Memorial Drive and seeing a waterfall spilling into Buffalo Bayou?

it doesn't look too comprehensive. at least we don't have to pay to recycle oil, paint, etc.
I am just trying to make a point that Houston really does not offer anything. Paper, thats about it.
Just a pilot program in a few designated zip codes would be a start.
-
Comcast. COMCAST?
Ugh.
2nd that one. They blow.
-
I found a place that buys office paper in northwest Houston.
No luck with Aluminum though.
Why does Houston not have a comprehensive program regarding recycling? I lived in Dallas and fully utilizied their program.

I already know about the Cuban Missile Crisis and stuff. We just didn't go into depth on the JFK assassination. That's why I didn't know what the grassy knoll was, but I did have an idea.
And now that I think about it, we went into Roe v. Wade and stopped at the Gulf War. After TAKS, we basically did nothing.
I did not know Cuba even had missles. They are such a poor country. Why would they buy them? I guess all of the revenue from cigars pays nicely.
Kidding obviously.

I was thinking on purchasing this home. I was wondering if anyone had any info on it (ex been on market before, how long, damage, etc)
I looked on hcad and the home is priced below appraisal. Is this a good price for the home?
I tend to use zillow.com for a more accurate reflection.
Nice area. I have a few friends that grew up on Saddlewood. Was always nice because we could just cross over Memorial and go to the Racquet Club.

Heard rumors of Specs making it into a warehouse type store. If true, sure they would be closing down on Bunker/I-10.
That is the rumor. Supposed to be like the one in midtowne. Not sure on size, etc.
-
You would think Ritz Carlton would update their site to reflect the Houston location.
-
By the end of the year when most of I-10, and 59S up to Brazos river are completed, Houston will drop off the top ten.
I just wonder what can be done to improve traffic on streets around Galleria/Uptown.
Agree. When I-10 is complete, we should see a drop.
Galleria area on the other hand is always a mess. The only time I head that way is early on Saturday mornings.

I'm going to be going on a road trip with my dad next week to a few Texas cities. It's actually a business trip for him, but I'm going to tag along. We're staring in Houston, driving to San Antonio, then Dallas (via Austin), then back to Houston. I already know Austin and San Antonio, but I've never been to Dallas before. We're staying downtown in a place called Indigo Hotel. Can anybody recommend anything to do/see when I'm in the big D?
Depends on your interests. I would recommend heading over to West Village in Uptown. Great people watching. As stated by someone else, the JFK museum and Dealey Plaza are worth a visit. Go to www.jfk.org for more information on the Sixth Floor Museum. The Crow Collection of Asian Art is worth a visit.

Just the other day I saw the flash go off when a car ran the light at Highway 6 and U.S. 59. And, if I'm not mistaken, maintenance is the responsibility of the company that installed the cameras.
I could be wrong, but I thought it was supposed to flash. I have seen it do so before, but only on overcast days.

The AMF Bunker Hill lanes are closed for renovations. AMF states "The facility opens in the fall of 2008 as Houston's new bowling and entertainment location - 300 Houston".

INRIX released their traffic scorecard this morning. According to their figures, Houston came in at number 7.
Nice to know that the best commuting hours are Friday, 9-10 am.

Drove by this weekend and noticed that there is a temporary building in the parking lot of the post office. Looks like work is going to begin soon.
-
That's gotta be a health code violation
I can see movers in hazmat gear now.

Does someone actually live in that house? That is just totally disgusting.
Would need a ton of work and in a bad part of town.

I don't know if there is a particular paint you need or not. They have never re-painted and it still looks good.
If you go and knock on the newer homes/buildings/apartments with the faux stucco, it sounds a little hollow.
