  1. Sorry if this is the wrong place to post this, but could anyone help me figure out who I need to talk to regarding the poor or total lack of pedestrian crossings on Studewood? It never used to bother me too much, until I had a baby. Now I try to cross a busy 3-lane street with my stroller and it feels like cars speed up when they see me. I know there are a few pedestrian islands, but they are not close to the intersections where I live. I would love to speak with someone regarding adding "Yield to Pedestrian" signs on my closest crosswalk and add some additional paint and yield signs to crosswalks up and down the road.
  2. Anyone know if there's a plan for the huge swath of dirt alongside the MTK trail, which I assume is currently being used as a path for heavy machinery? I don't expect anything too groundbreaking there, but it would be great if they added some benches and some trees, since they have a lot of room to work with. I walked on the MTK trail the other day at peak heat and it was scorching without any trees on that side of the path.
  3. This may be a stupid question, but I couldn't find much of an answer elsewhere in this thread. I've been biking down the bayou by these buildings recently and they really look fantastic and have transformed the area completely (and my perception of UH-D). However, does anyone know what steps the school took to prevent against massive flooding of all of these new buildings and improvements? I lived in Market Square Tower during Harvey and my windows looked out over this area. The area was flooded as far as I could see and, by my estimation, all of these new buildings would be flooded, possibly up to the second floor. Did the school build parking on the first floor or build huge retention pools? Any info would be illuminating.
  4. I really loved the idea of Barkley's, but vowed never to go back after my dog was bit pretty badly on the ear. The other dog owner blamed my dog (who would never hurt a fly) and the bar owners essentially said there's nothing they could do. I know it's hard to police that sort of thing, but the total lack of care by all involved left a foul taste in my mouth
  5. I noticed a few weeks ago that three or four buildings between Mulberry Street and Pistoleros were razed. Does anyone know what's going in at this location? Seems like it could be a good way to extend that walkable area of Montrose, if there are more shops or restaurants.
