Daddy’s Chicken will likely not last since the 11th street bikeway changes. Management says it’s a dead zone from 4-7 p.m.
Eh I'm skeptical its the bikeway that does them in -- their business looked slow no matter the number of lanes available.

Keep putting that H‑E‑B energy out into the world y’all — we’ll manifest one in the east end eventually :)

they are posing weekly updates on the project status to this website -- nice to see the communication!
Also, here is the TIRZ page on the project

I've biked it a few times now -- really great in terms of what it does for the bike network!! However the actual construction kinda sucks. The concrete segments are much more uneven than both the white oak and heights trails on either side. Its a pity they couldn't have at least matched the quality of the existing trail.

Not exactly related to the current construction, but sounds like they will be rehabbing the old golf course in Inwood Forest to be retention ponds and will be adding trails

The design immediately reminded me of Paulie's on Westheimer. Probably the P name helps with that.

An interesting compromise would be to remove alternating sections of each direction of the freeway to allow for park development underneath as well. Green space in the sunlit sections of the ground level and playgrounds/exercise fixtures in the shaded areas. A multilevel park would be really cool and wouldn’t just be a copy of the Highline that’s 2-3x as wide.
It was a long time ago now, but I remember attending a meeting where the city showed a proposal similar to this. The parts that were still up they also filled in underneath to have little shops etc, and the bits that were still elevated were enough that you could walk end to end. Definite High Line vibes

Yeah I really wanted this place to do well, but I was disappointed every time I went there. Really slow service, . food and high prices :/

I know the designs that came back in the competition all had park improvements, but I would really love to see them come to life. I know it's a bowl and it's always gonna hold water, but when it rains now it turns two portions of the paths to mud. just some better drainage and grading would help there.
I was really disappointed when they did a bunch of work on the main drainage point in Spott's park (brand new concrete culvert and pipe it looked like), only for all the water to pool NEXT to the drain and cover up the path to the bayou.

This was going to be the Marquette 24 story high rise that was proposed several years ago.
Thanks @hindesky!

It looks like in two weeks your photo update will introduce the
EMBASSY SUITES. Well done, Skanska.Yeah TBH I'm a little sad that I will still be able to see it haha. Meanwhile I definitely won't be able to see the astrodome anymore, which I was able to on a clear day before.

There’s some work going on in the lot south of this building (digging up a portion of the parking lot). Not sure if these are related.

Man this would be amazing -- less trains stopping traffic and also less need for train horns
