waterway square extension to south side of waterway could begin by next year.

i guess such a limited/narrow floorplate required a utilitarian design. nice that it fits in!

Well, it certainly seems the news you are getting is indeed old. And you won't have to worring about me posting "old news" on this site anymore.
11 stories- deal with it.
ah come on. i didn't intend to offend. 11 stories is good news!
-
3 waterway is old news. where did you see/hear "11" stories? last reports on the business journal and the woodlands commercial site are "9" stories.
-
excellent. thanks for sharing the link.

the "expansion" by dillard's is not new, as it is the location of the last anchor store. a recurring rumor is that neiman marcus had been discussing a location here before the recession.
if this is current, it does make you wonder about the condo tower and boutique hotel at waterway square. if this is at the visitor's center, i doubt the model contains the most current information. do you know where the model is located?

swamplot reports:
Anadarko Petroleum announced to its employees last week that the company is ready to begin constructing a second office tower just west of its existing headquarters building in The Woodlands Town Center, a source tells Swamplot. The new building will fit on the corner of Lake Robbins Dr. and Woodloch Forest Dr., just south of The Woodlands Mall, and like the current tower will be visible from miles south on I-45. At the announced 31 stories, the new structure would be one floor "shorter taller."

I looked over that flier several times... yea, other speculative indicators it's out of date by at least a year are the Google maps being copyright 2010 and the traffic data from 2009...
I don't see why the condo tower wont be there from the flier alone. All that is indicated is street level retail, in which the tower would be mixed use. Unless there is official word it's scrapped, or another development will take its place perhaps?
I can definitely see a market for it... Rich Woodlanders who prefer high rise living that is within walking distance of Waterway Square, the Mall and Market Street. (Although this kind of defeats the overall purpose of living in the woodlands...you know, that whole home in the woods feel thing).
I see a Luxury Hotel on that pdf also... Seems a bit redundant with the Marriott a stones throw away, but I guess if they are going to build it it's because there is a market for it.
Exciting stuff, especially the garage not being just a garage anymore. I frequently visit this area most weekends, as Grimaldi's has become a new favorite pizza place (when the wait isn't two hours) and Coal Burger my new favorite burger. Now those make you go Mmmmmmmmmm.
And where would another Anadarko building be built, if it is a building of similar size regardless if it is a twin or not?
the southeast corner of lake robbins and woodloch forest is anadarko's. the southwest corner is where waterway 3 is to break ground soon. http://www.bizjournals.com/houston/news/2011/10/26/nexeo-solutions-moves-to-woodlands.html

I don't think the condo tower is gonna happen.
Check out this flyer. It shows retail in it's place. http://goo.gl/KAAro
the flyer shows the ground floor retail for all of the office buildings. the retail space shown in purple, next to the existing parking garage, is only the ground floor of the condo tower. with the howard hughes company now in full control of the woodlands, they want to accelerate the development of the boutique hotel at waterway avenue and other office buildings. note: the flyer mentions rio 24 as a tenant which has been out of business for some time. the flyer is out of date.
there is a lot of activity in town center. looking forward to more announcements soon and impatient to see a rendering of the next anadarko building. i hope it isn't a "twin".
(channeling homer simpson) mmmmmmm....frosting. frost cupcakes in waterway square district

that area is either included in or adjacent to the location of the proposed transit terminal and parking garage at six pines and lake robbins. in that map, you can see the location of the proposed performing arts center too (although not identified).

So would the condo tower replace what is presently the pay garage for Waterway Square?
no. the condo tower has a small floor plate and is between the garage and waterway square. the area is an empty lot right now. lockmat is correct to think it may not happen. if the market changes in a way that would support a different development here, the woodlands could certainly change direction; however, the renderings of the condo project continue to be posted on the recently update developer website.

sorta reminds me of a spiffed up Houston House apartments
my first thought was a spiffed up 2016 main. a little boring, i think.

Something similar to this style, could possibly kick-start a new look for our fair city.
it's fun to dream.......
didn't the story on the new tower at w. alabama and weslayan say "35" stories? should we change the title of this thread?

I wonder if this is part of the expansion plans released some time ago?

are you referring to the hewitt campus between lake woodlands drive and research forest? the next waterway square building should break ground in the next couple of months. i do not know the proposed square footage of 3 waterway.

"George Mitchell has shown interest in land owned by The Woodlands Land Development Company which may be used for a future performing arts center, while The Woodlands Township is considering a plan for a $6 million to $7 million transit terminal and parking garage that could address the center’s needs."
The proposed performing arts center will be at The Woodlands Waterway and Six Pines, east of The Pavilion. The same site has been rumored to be a possible satellite location for the Houston Museum of Natural Science

anyone know the status or opening date?

Real Estate BIS Now reports that the final two retail spaces are spoken for at 24 Waterway Avenue. The two spots are to be a bar and a restaurant. One remaining spot is next door to Hubbell and Hudson on Lake Robbins near the parking garage entrance and the other is the last section of Sirenuse not occupied by (the not yet opened) Yucatan Taco Stand. article (I wonder if he is referring to The Exchange and Yucatan Taco Stand.....not the last two spaces available.)
The Woodlands Township has agreed to spend several hundred thousand dollars upgrading The Woodlands first community park, Sawmill Park. No doubt this is due to the luxury apartments being built on the WAC (Woodlands Athletic Center) site nearby. article
A rumor is out that Trader Joe's is coming to The Woods; however, culturemap reports that they are considering the endangered historic Alabama Theater in the loop as well.

Oops, sorry if I sounded tongue in cheek. I actually do think that's a really good candidate. Not sure if people's knowledge of the current one will have anything to do with it's success. I guess there are plenty of Woodlands residents that work downtown. I mean shoot, I know the current one is close to downtown, but it is kinda located in the "middle of urban nowhere." If it can succeed there, I hope it can in TW too.
i like kim son too...and hope the woodlands embraces it. kim son is a houston institution. the story of the family that founded kim son is what houston is all about. given the location, my first thought was negative.....certainly not representative of my hopes.
-
Kim Son? That'll be perfect! That'll be a hit if anyone in the Woodlands ever heard of it before.
my thought exactly. seems doomed.... here's the link from the woodlands development update. http://www.thewoodlands.net/spps/ahpg.cfm?spgid=14
