Below is an updated rendering of the forthcoming Montrose outpost for Jeni's Splendid Ice Creams. The rendering also includes the adjacent lofts. This is designed by Cisneros Design Studio.

Jeni's Splendid Ice Creams is opening at 1719 Westheimer Rd.

I’m surprised it’s not open yet.

As noted above, Present Company was sold either late last year or earlier this year.  The bar's new owners are revamping the space. However, Present Company is not coming back. It's closed.

In place of Present Company, the new owners will reopen the bar at 1318 Westheimer as Darna.

Darna sounds like it’ll have Middle Eastern/Moroccan vibes.

I'm curious if there have been any actions taken or even statements made by Rice's new administration that show they are reorganizing Rice's direction?

This sounds like typical campus rumor mill that spins like crazy when a university gets a new President.

Somewhat related; the new President has pretty cool video  on this page:

He looks very much like former Rocket Mario Elie!

Lots of people who travel regularly (especially for business) end up with a preferred hotel chain for points reasons. That translates to Marriott, IHG, Hilton, Hyatt, etc.

That can end up being a surprisingly strong influence in hotel choice.

Definitely. I paid for my entire 3-week honeymoon around the world with points/miles! .

    https://www.bizjournals.com/houston/news/2023/04/24/the-ion-leasing-update.html

"The Ion District, Houston’s innovation hub at 4201 Main St. in Midtown, is quickly approaching 100% leased status. Ten new tenants have recently signed on to lease space in the Ion, accounting for a combined 35,000 square feet in the 266,000-square-foot building.

With the new leases, the Ion is now 86% leased.

Additionally, construction crews are currently working on building a new lab at the Ion. Rice University’s Nexus Lab will be designed for prototyping and scaling-up technologies, according to a news release."

Do we know who the new tenants are?

As someone who used to work at a gas station and car repair shop combo, isn't it weird to build a restaurant on such a lot? I thought oil and such leaking into the ground is a big deal, or do they have to remediate some of that as they construct. Sorry if this is a dumb question, I just know it was difficult for the owner of the place I worked out to sell the property.

Let’s just say the “Gulf oysters” at Clark’s will be authentic, if you know what I mean.
