First, what small town in South Louisiana? Second, Walmart coming to this area won't be the same as the South Louisiana town. It's mostly chain and big box stores out this way anyway. Especially on a main highway.

I'll call Great Wolf
. They built one up in Grapevine, Texas. I'm sure one would work near EarthQuest and the SkiPark. They include waterparks in their hotels.

I didn't think the movie was too long. It went by so fast. I thought it had ended like an hour before it did, so I was slurping up my soda (only having to use the restroom really bad once the movie was over). Went to Katy Mills at 7 PM. Movie was sold out until midnight, so we bought one for near midnight and went into the 7 showing anyway. It was worth it.
Oh yeah, and Dark Knight breaks the all-time weekend record (over that POS Spiderman 3). In its first day, it did $67 million. Second day, it did $48 million, and Sunday, it did $43 million.

"The Dark Knight," the crime saga about vigilante Batman and his wealthy alter ego Wayne, debuted with a record $158.4 million, according to final weekend numbers Monday. That was up $3.1 million from studio estimates of $155.3 million a day earlier.Starring Christian Bale as Batman and the late Heath Ledger as the Joker, "The Dark Knight" surpassed Hollywood's previous best opening weekend of $151.1 million set last year by "Spider-Man 3."
The hotly anticipated sequel to "Batman Begins" grew into a cultural event after Ledger's death from an accidental prescription-drug overdose in January, with critical acclaim over his maniacal performance firing up fans for the film.

Made another great memory with my wife and oldest son when we went to see Dark Knight there at the Cinemark this weekend!
I heard it was sold out all day at Cinemark Memorial City for that movie (talking about Friday).

Ours stomps all over DFW's.

I wish we had something on location. Hopefully it is up by Earth Quest.

Sir, based on the lack of authority evidenced in your prior posts, it is you who is presently eating the proverbial "crow."
On Monday, January 14th, 2008 @ 3:14pm, you wrote "I heard 6 Houston Center will begin Feb 1 2008 and finish before the MainPlace and Discovery Tower"
On Friday, January 18th, 2008 @ 11:58am you wrote "Crescent is breaking ground on 6 Houston Center in 30 days. "
On Tuesday, February 19th, 2008 @ 4:41pm you wrote "Groundbreaking March 6th. "
On Monday, May 19th, 2008 @ 1:57pm you wrote "it is happening for sure."
Maybe it's time for you to pack up shop and try another board-- perhaps the crow eaters community?
Bravo!

What do you mean Atascocita is not going anyhere? The Humble/Atascocita area is growing out of control. I live in unincorporated Harris county right on will clayton pkwy. about 10 min from the airport. I can tell you we are growing. From Will Clayton to Atascocita road to Kingwood dr. to FM1960 is growing because there countless banks, too many starbucks, and three Wal-Marts. Trees are geting cut down for countless neighborhoods and strip malls/shoppong centers(some look pretty decent). It does not look like the boondocks in the middle of nowhere like when we first moved out here. And I am pretty sure Atascocita is not growing just because of the city of Humble.
What he meant by "going nowhere" was places like Atascocita becoming its own city.

The Dark Knight is scary though.
Did you ever get a chance to go down and meet the actors when they were filming? Or was it like ultra security?

That's cool Editor!
And it barely squeaked by on its PG-13 rating because of violence and gore. And the film is VERY dark. Don't bring kids under 12, unless you plan on staying up late with them.

I'm seeing it at 7 PM at Katy Mills. Should be packed. Some studio estimates are no having this thing have a $160 to $180 million opening weekend (most all time). Part of that is because the midnight showings were the largest ever.
And I know some people who saw it, and they say it is nothing like a superhero movie. It is more like a crime/drama/action movie. They also said it barely squeaked by on its PG-13 rating. Some even say they don't know how it got the PG-13 rating. Uncut DVD confirmed.

If it were not for Houston there would be no Cinco or just about any other unincorporated portion of Harris County.
You can run but you can't hide.
And? Doesn't mean these places cannot be their own cities. What's the point of letting them just sit idle? They can't vote on city council, have no mayor, and only rely on MUDs and neighborhood districts. If these little areas on the West side were cities, services and things could reach the population a lot faster. That, and Houston still won't be hemmed in like Dallas is. Houston would still have the NE side and East side to expand and annex (which it probably won't anyway either).
And RedScare, what I meant by Katy/Cinco Ranch is for Houston to release its ETJ in Cinco Ranch (plus surrounding master-planned communities north of FM 1093) to Katy.

I have no doubt that they'll get the 10,000 signatures needed, but not sure whether they can overcome all the obstacles to incorporating. IMHO forming a city would be a good thing, there are too many service holes and poorer reaction times in the unincorporated areas that many people are not aware of when they buy their home. Would give the residents better control over their future, and who wants to be eventually sucked into giant and often poorly run Houston?
Awesome. I hope this happens. Same with the Katy/Cinco Ranch area.
Besides, Houston has so many other areas it could annex. It's not like it is being hemmed in or anything, nor is Houston going to annex this land in the future.

I really don't like that plan. I thought it was going to be more like La Cantera in San Antonio. Instead, looks like a strip center. They have parking in front of the stores, so cars will just drive up to the stores, instead of taking a walk.

Retail in general is going through a slum nationally. Outdoor, indoor, etc. Texas and generally Houston are fairing better.

I always thought lacenterra was doing well.
It is.

Only the incompetent would lay SO much rail into existing streets - it defeats the purpose of having rail in the first place. Rail should only be laid into medians or elevated areas...not the street!
The St. Charles streetcar in New Orleans is a good example of how to do it correctly. The New Orleans streetcar has rail in the street for only short distances - 90% of it is in the median.
It takes people from where they live, to where they work. The crescent shape of New Orleans also lends itself to making the system work in a beneficial manner.
And trust me, anytime New Orleans does something better than your city...your city su*ks.

When did Macy's and Dillard's become high-end?

i watch the show
if im not busy with other stuff
its ok
I'm pretty sure you record it on your DVR.

Houston hasn't been proven (so to speak) that a rail system would get enough ridership to justify the cost.
what would be your source on a statement like this??? if we truly had a system where it is accessible and built to where people want to go, ridership levels would far exceed anyones goals at METRO.
The Red Line has already surpassed METRO's expectations (last year). 45,000 riders per day was not suppose to happen until 2020.

Oil shall continue to drop, but it won't hurt Houston.

I know, but I'm not gonna go sit and cross my legs under a tree and have a sandwhich next to the green on hole 9.
I would. Bring my blow horn, too.

Texas still has plenty of Mervyns though. They are all in the Panhandle and West Texas.
