  1. See the movie. It is nothing like a comic book movie. It is like a crime drama more than anything. It makes you think after you see it, with the way Joker messes with people's minds throughout the movie. Very good.

  2. There is no story. They made it less comic booky. Instead of magically falling into chemicals and getting bleached (Nicholson's Joker), Ledger's Joker puts the makeup on his face himself. There is no origin really. I'm trying not to give too much away.

  3. This kid in my neighborhood has seen it five times, with one of those times in IMAX. He saw it once with me, twice with his dad, and I don't know who else he saw it with after that.

  4. Okay, let's find some middle ground:

The Westpark Tollway Ends/begins within 40 years of Post Oak @ 610.

Westpark Road's most eastern point is at Kirby, just north of 59 and south of Bissonnet and continues on west, of which the ELEVATED portion is a toll road while the street level is free and has cross traffic.

    :)

    You're not helping.

  5. The Dark Knight Crushes $200 Million Record

    Source: Media by Numbers

    July 23, 2008

Warner Bros. Pictures' The Dark Knight broke another record on Tuesday becoming the fastest ever to cross the $200 million mark in five days! The previous record of eight days was held by three films - Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man's Chest, Spider-Man 2 and Star Wars Episode III: Revenge of the Sith.

Christopher Nolan's Batman Begins follow-up added $20.87 million on Tuesday to push its massive total to $203.8 million. That puts it at #84 already on the all-time domestic blockbuster list after just five days.

Right now, the only number we have for international markets is $41.3 million but that will start going up significantly as the movie is opening in many countries Thursday and Friday as well as into August.

So let's recap - widest release (4,366 theaters), biggest opening weekend ($158.4M), biggest July opener ($158.4M), biggest PG-13 rated opening ($158.4M), biggest single day ($67.2M), biggest opening day ($67.2M), biggest Friday ($67.2M), biggest Sunday ($43.6M) and fastest to $200M in five days ($203.8M).

  6. Snow Mountain vs. Ski Dubai

    Height: 149 m vs. 85 m, or 44 vs. 25 stories

Of the 149 m, the end of the slope is at 24 m, so it is a true 125 m a healthy 47% advantage over Ski Dubai.

    Ski Area: 40,800 m2 vs. 22,500 m2

    This area is covered snow.

It seems like finally Houston will have something bigger than Dubai, and it will look like a blocky mountain, rather than a metal slide.

  7. Is it true that part of the line will tunnel into a subway around the uptown park area?

Yes. That's what some DEIS report (I don't know, I think that is what it's called) said. Check the first page. It was posted by RedScare.

And when do we get the first renderings for the line?

  8. Apparently this is reporting way more land than we thought earlier:

"Will occupy some 1,500 acres and include the Earth Quest Institute, a theme park,

retail centers, hotels, as well as residential."

    http://products.rednews.com/base/member/mw...ties_July08.pdf

Also, the H-GAC April 2008 Montgomery County Transit Plan says this...

In addition, as development of the Earth Quest Adventures theme park near US 59 continues, consideration should also be made for public transport linkages between that theme park and other tourist attractions throughout the county. Some of those attractions include the Lone Star Convention Center, the Spring Creek trail system, Lake Conroe, the Woodlands and the higher density residential and commercial developments along IH-45 North Freeway throughout the central core of Montgomery county and into the adjacent counties, Walker, Harris, Liberty and Waller counties.

    Update from March...

Don Lessem, a leading paleontologist and an advisor to Jurassic Park and Disney Dinosaur films, has chosen to bring EarthQuest Adventures to New Caney, Texas. This is a fifty million dollar project, including hotels, an IMAX, a theme park and a museum. The IMAX will be 4D. Dill says,

WoodCreek Development recently purchased 86 acres at the southwest corner of I-10 and Pin Oak Road for a retail and office development. The project will be called Katy Main Street. Plans are to have over 450,000 square feet of retail, restaurants, and banks, a full service hotel and 510,000 square feet of Class A office space. This property will be completed through a joint venture partnership with BPI Realty Services.

BPI is a full-service commercial real estate firm specializing in shopping centers, developing and managing in excess of 3,000,000 square feet of retail centers.

Unlike WoodCreek Commons, WoodCreek Development will stay involved in this retail development after completion rather than selling the asset.

  10. Except Northpark has no ice skating, food court, video game room or glass elevators that ascend up a 20 story lobby. However it is full of a lot of overpriced useless crap and cheesy 'art'.

Dallas Galleria has ice skating but is kind of lame for a mall of it's size. Houston rocks! Dallas sucks!

    k.

But Northpark has a movie theater and Galleria doesn't. Northpark also has some exclusive high-end stores that the Galleria does not have (obviously vice-versa as well). And Northpark does have a food court. They call it like "CentrePark" or something. They have this outdoor area part too, that's in the middle of this big seating area.

That's about it. The only thing I like about Northpark is that the entire place is cohesive and looks the same. That, and Galleria's bathrooms are very messy. Yuck.

  11. ^^Actually, Northpark Mall is on par with Houston Galleria. Galleria Dallas is more on par with Memorial City.

I agree wih u on this Trae. To me its the same situation with the Galleria.Houston Galleria is better than Galleria Dallas, but on the flipside of the coin....It has to be that way because it is "THE" mall of houston while Dallas has a more watered down version of the Galleria(which is not far behind Houston's)Dallas also have other choices that are also on par with it. To me it makes for alot more variety.Houston Has "2" water prks...Dallas "4"Houston has "0" amusement parks..Dallas has one of the best... Dallas Has two indoor waterpark hotels....Houston has "0".Dallas proposes a neat ski park... Houston Proposes one that HAS to be kick ass to compensate for the amusement park that was lost aaaaaaaaaaand to compete with he new concept for our ski park...So again trae ..I agree wit you totally!!!
