  1. New Year's Day Hike January 1, 2024 – 10 am – 12 pm Rally Pavilion at the Running Center QH83+3P Washington Avenue Coalition / Memorial Park, Houston, Texas, 77007 Whether you’ve got grand New Year’s resolutions or not, let’s keep it simple today – just a hike! Make a small commitment, join us for one hike. No need to splurge on all the gear; just show up and enjoy the outdoors. And here’s a challenge: talk to someone you’ve never spoken to before. Kickstart your year with exercise and fresh air! About the Hike: We’ll be navigating real dirt trails with some sandy stretches and hills. The hike is 3-4 miles and the perfect way to get started! After the hike: Stick around for a picnic in the park. Bring your lunch, beverages are allowed, and a chair, and we’ll have some fun in the park. Level of Difficulty: Suitable for all levels, but be prepared for a pace of about 25-30 minutes per mile. We’ll adjust to the group’s speed and split into two if necessary. Rest assured, we won’t leave anyone behind, so no worries about getting lost. Dog-Friendly for Responsible Dog Owners: Bring your furry friend but remember the essentials – water and poop bags. Keep dogs on a short leash, and please do not approach other dogs or people without prior consent. No kids: While members can bring their kids to specific events, our focus is on being an adult outdoor social club. What to Bring: - Sturdy shoes - Layers (you’ll warm up as we hike) - Water for you and your dog (if applicable) - Snack or lunch (we’ll find a spot post-hike) - A chair for post-hike relaxation - Comfortable shoes for after the hike - Sun and bug protection Where to Meet: We meet at Rally Pavilion at the Running Center. Map: https://maps.app.goo.gl/TohzVhGDtjYcrEYx5 Parking: Parking is directly next to the Rally Pavilion, with a $2.00 parking fee. Fees: The hike is free, but there is a $2 parking fee for this parking lot. Please make sure you pay so you don’t get a ticket. 2. Prepare for Moonlit Magic! When the full moon graces the night sky, an enchanting transformation can occur. While we can assure you that no one has turned into a werewolf or Count Dracula during our full moon hikes at HTXO/BCO (so far), we are firm believers in celebrating the ethereal beauty of this celestial event with a leisurely moonlit walk. Join us for an enchanting journey under the full moon’s radiant glow and immerse yourself in the captivating lunar landscape. It’s a night of celestial wonder that you won’t want to miss. About the Trail: We are hiking on an actual trail with hills! Yes, right here in Houston! This is not a paved path, which makes it interesting when you hike back at night, in the dark! We’ll hike about 3-4 miles. What to bring: - Red Light Headlight / Red Light flashlight – You can get these really cheap at Walmart or Academy, so please pick one up! Using a red light will help you keep your night vision; it won’t scare off the animals as much, and you won’t get as many shadows. - Water: Stay hydrated before and after the hike. Bring water for the hike. It’s more comfortable to have a backpack to carry it in than to carry it with your hand. - Sturdy Shoes: These are actual dirt trails, and it’s night: no platforms, no slippers or flip flops. We will check shoes before the hike, and inappropriate shoes will need to stay back. No Dogs: Most of our events are dog-friendly. Since this is nighttime and there are snakes, there are no dogs on this hike. Adults only, no Kids: We are an adult social club, and our night hike is not suitable for kids. Leave No Trace: Please throw away any bottles or trash you have. Bring a shopping bag and pick up some trash during the hike. Where to Meet: We meet at Rally Pavilion at the Running Center. Map: https://maps.app.goo.gl/TohzVhGDtjYcrEYx5 Parking: Parking is directly next to the Rally Pavilion, with a $2.00 parking fee. Fees: The hike is free, but there is a $2 parking fee RSVP at https://htxoutdoors.com/events/full-moon-hike-20/ For additional info e-mail to info@HTXoutdoors.com

Food, gear, level of difficulty, acclimating, turning back, training, costs, and more. Join us to find out how you can cross this amazing trip off your bucket list. This event is designed specifically for YOU! Whatever your questions and reasons for attending, DO IT! You’ll meet folks in the same exact boat as you, and you’ll learn a whole lot about the upcoming fun Bayou City Outdoors and HTXOutdoors have coming your way. Our calendar can be a little overwhelming with 40+ events every month, so let us explain some of our favorites, and tell you everything you need to know about being a BCO / HTXO member. If you’re looking for friends who: - Want to get out of the house and explore Houston - Have similar interests such as hiking, biking, camping, kayaking, etc - Want to try new things even if they don’t really know where to start - Don’t cancel on you last minute, even if they were the ones who invited you first! - Want to Travel around the US and Internationally - And much much more! Then you’re in the right place. Join us in person at Becks Prime as we talk about: - What BCO / HTXO is all about - What’s on the calendar and where we are going - What you get as a member of BCO / HTXO - And if BCO / HTXO is for you! PLUS, when you attend live in person, we’ll tell you about a BONUS available to you. What to expect at the event: We work hard to make this event a little more “formal” (if we could ever be accused of that) than our “Meet & Greets.” We’ll have a presentation, Q&A and social time, too. Some of our Event Leaders will also be on hand to talk about their upcoming events! Make new friends and learn about all the fun you’re about to have in Houston and worldwide! How to find the group: Look for the BCO / HTXO sign. We’re usually in the small room that you can see from the counter where you order food. Ordering food and drinks is counter service so grab something when you arrive. Cost: The event is free; however, you pay for any food/drinks you order. Please help support our partner so we can continue to have large events. Parking: Parking in front of Beck’s; we share a lot with the golf course. There is a pay station in the parking lot. For just $1, you can park for the entire event and you’re supporting all of the amazing changes the park is making to provide a new outdoor experience in the middle of the city! If you have questions that you would like for us to cover, please submit them to info@HTXoutdoors.com. RSVP at https://htxoutdoors.com/events/qa-dinner/

HTXO Sand Volleyball Social June 23, 2023, 6:30 PM- 9 PM Wakefield Crowbar 954 Wakefield Dr Houston, TX 77018 Our happy hour and volleyball event is a great introductory event to help you get active outdoors and to meet other people who are also looking for more than just happy hour. Plus having games to focus on, helps remove some of the awkward pauses that can happen the first time you meet someone. And the best part… you’re meeting people with similar interests. Not just people interested in happy hour or volleyball. The group of people who attend this event are looking for new friends who want to explore Houston, try new things, and get outdoors! No experience is required for volleyball We’ll spend a little time warming up and going through the rules. Then we’ll play a few games… we can get as competitive as you all want, but mostly, we’re there to have fun. We’re an inclusive group which means we still hit the ball to new players who may or may not be able to return it. It’s the only way people can get better! Don’t you want to play volleyball? No problem! Plenty of people come out just to socialize on the large patio, play a game of cornhole or ping pong! Plus, they have a full kitchen and bar, including 30+ taps. Wakefield Crowbar at the very end of the parking lot and fully lit when you get there. Parking: There is a parking lot and plenty of street parking. You might have to walk down the street but hey, you’re looking for an outdoor group right? :D How to find the group: Look for the HTXoutdoors and Bayou City Outdoors items on the tables. So if everyone is chatting up a storm when you get there, it’s just because they have quickly realized they have a lot in common. And even when some of the people know each other, they are still there to meet more people with similar interests.
