Are they violating any rights, etc?

Hopefully this will look nice irl.

Perhaps the city will receive more revenue due to higher room rates?
-
Oh **** I hope it's true!
I do and I dont. Having a company of this size so far from the city core is still not a good idea.

What happens if you already have one?

And here comes the wet dreams of a W hotel.
Agreed. What's the big deal with that brand anyways?

Oh brother... I like this building. I also happen to think it should go up. I also happen to think the concerns of the local residents are somewhat misplaced or far-fetched. I also happen to be likely to not change my mind about it. Chill.

I am all for seeing this get built!
100% agree. What can we do to help get this ball rolling?
-
So what's this supposed to look like? For some reason I didnt see any renderings.
-
Nice catch. Thanks.

Let us hope not. With the proper financial engineering, anything is possible.

I dont know. It does remind of me HOK's style.

Seems like it is...

I think this is a great building, but it's not iconic. When there's a nearly identical building two blocks away that merely has some different sculpting touches, it's not iconic. The two buildings are excellent compositions in a style that hearkens back to the exhilarating, clean-cut modernism of Mies van der Rohe, but they are not iconic. They have not etched themselves into the psyche of a large portion of Houston's population.
Iconic buildings:
The Gulf Building
Pennzoil Place
The Transco Towerl
Wells Fargo Plaza
Fountain Place in Dallas
Tower Life Building in San Antonio
Great buildings that aren't iconic:
NIels Esperson Buiding
Tenneco Building
One Shell Plaza
Bank of America
Enron Center South
both Hines Main St. buildings
In my humble opinion, the best office architecture to come out of this boom era is the Southwestern Energy headquarters. That is an inspired design, and whoever did it ought to be given an award.
Hrmm... That's a good list but I'm going to have to have to disagree with you on SW Energy...

I can't w until they start on City Place. That's going to be nice. With this, The Woodlands, and Camp Strake, I-45 N is going to have several entertainment destinations.
Hardly. I'm not driving way out there just to immerse myself in a synthetic blend of blandness, artificiality, and homogeneity. This is absolutely sickening. And now they're going to have a "City Place"??? Get real.
Others have also pointed out the inconvenient truth regarding the stifling, mind-numbing, and perpetual traffic jams.

It is already affecting traffic. Right now, it is probably due to rubbernecking. But, we can look for slowdowns in this area from now on. The worst part is that this section of I-45 was already a bottleneck.
No problem. People will simply move even farther out. Problem solved. Soon, the toll road monkeys will build yet another "grand" parkway then slip toll booths in during the final stage of construction. Yay!

That dog park is nauseating.... now we're sure to have strays running amok biting people... The good thing is that it will bring people together and give a different feel to the local community. The bad thing is well... the hipsters.

Add a spire please.

I'm positive that we analyze tgis document with statistical tools, we'll find that this project is statistically dead.
