looking at the top floor 360 render, it looks like this will be right up there in height with one park place (518 ft), maybe a few feet shorter.

Nah, it is $300K to renovate the interior. If anything, this looks to cement it's place in the neighborhood for the next few years
I think the 300K is to renovate one of the GFR spots inside this tower - Meaning the WF catty-corner at 2801 Kirby will likely not be around too much longer.- 4

Looks like some new updates on Medistar's site:
https://www.medistarcorp.com/in-development/

STUDENT HOUSING TOWER, 19 STORIES
- Student Housing Units: 432
- Student Housing Beds: 720
- Mix of Units includes Studio, 1x1, 2x2 and 4x4 configurations
- Retail: 6,000 square feet at grade

Although oil is down because of the coronavirus, so it really is ultimately the virus. Things might get real slow around this forum for awhile. I hope that all the projects expecting financing decisions soon will get them (TMC3, Laneways, Block 98, etc.), but the economy is collapsing and credit could freeze up.
The silver lining might be that if fracking gets killed in a price collapse, that could open the door for a revival in offshore projects in a couple years, which fills a lot more office space in Houston than the fracking sector does.
Oil is drastically down because of the price war between Saudi and Russia, not so much because of the virus. Fracking / shale can react quickly and be started and/or stopped quickly, while offshore / deepwater is super slow to react. I'm afraid that offshore activity is going to be depressed for a long while....- 1

The City of Bellaire is making progress toward potentially creating a new zoning district at the former Chevron campus, at 4800 and 4900 Fournace Place.
The Bellaire Planning & Zoning Commission approved a scope of work on Feb. 13 for professional services to assist in drafting amendments to the city’s planning and zoning regulations to create a new North Bellaire Special Development District.- 4

Part of the deal is A&M sells its 2121 W Holcombe land to Medistar for $51m? That would be best case scenario to have Medistar completely redevelop that plot of land across Main Street. Main and Holcombe will be quite the intersection in 5+ years.
And if the gateway station would ever get off the ground too.
It shares the same block as the A&M development. I wonder if the A&M development will be a tipping point for the transit center .

ABC13 just had a blurb saying that A&M is releasing an announcement today at 11 about a development in Houston that would be “one of the largest in the country”.

Wow, this thing doubles in height every 6 months!! Can't wait to see the renders in 2020!
https://bkvgroup.com/project/bristol-cove/
QuoteHouston, TX
BKV Group’s inaugural project with developer partner, Legacy Partners, positions a 16-story, residential building within Houston’s upscale Galleria District. Featuring 275 units , the exterior and interior components align with the District’s clientele, appealing both in size, scale, and available amenities, in addition to being closely located to downtown Houston and surrounded by bustling retail areas, office towers, hotels, and private health clubs.
Standing out amongst the surrounding buildings, Bristol Cove is ideally located next to a park shared with a neighboring condo tower. With Bristol Cove making a statement through its exterior panelization, the building provides a renewed sense of materiality by eschewing the traditional brick and stucco palette typically utilized in the region.
Set to be completed in early 2021, Bristol Cove provides terrific views to the city – particularly from the west – with units featuring floor-to-ceiling glass and open-air balconies, in addition to an area for a fully-functional outdoor space. An ample amount of amenities including a ride share lounge, car charging station, five levels of parking, dog wash, lap pool, and indoor spa and sauna round out Bristol Cove’s tenant program capable of resonating with Houston’s diverse set of demographics and tastes.
Completion in early 2021... They better get a move on!- 8
