Off Topic - Would be cool if the Shepherd Bridge could be torn down and re-built as a beautiful gateway. Awesome pics City.

Patiently waiting for the day we see more highrises on the north side of the Bayou.

Y'all can like this Big Ugly Box on La Branch. I'm going to criticize it.
It's missing a thin brick arch near the entrance. Randall Davis Co presents: "The Aqueduct".

Then combine this a Metro Transit Center serving Silver Line & Inner Katy BRT and a bus transit center. A complete national & regional ground transportation hub… all connected by multiple highways surrounding Northwest Mall. This should exist in reality.
If we're fantasying, They should partner with the Post, and make it an Intermodal Transit Center, which would really boost everything about both projects. The Post could develop more commercial space, residential, and hotels. Truly a mixed-use development.
Could easily build a pedestrian bridge to the UH Downtown Red line station.

Yeah, I've only ever been there for lunch, which is when I'd guess the majority of their business is done.
I read an article the other day about an ongoing sriracha shortage due to supply chain constraints affecting the producer of the sriracha sauce almost everyone uses, Huy Fong Foods in Rosemead, CA. It sounded crazy, with restaurants hoarding what they had and paying exorbitant prices in the regular retail market whenever some turned up there, since the usual wholesale suppliers couldn't get it.
I'm sadly aware. Wish they would use a closer substitute. Instead they use the vinegar heavy ones 🤢
Will have to go back for lunch!

Ah, OK. I read that too quickly and thought you were talking about the other place (that obviously hasn't opened yet).
When I used to work downtown, Cali was the preferred go-to whenever anyone in the office was in the mood for a banh mi, but I haven't been there in quite a while. Good to know they're still a benchmark.
I was told they were better during lunch. Went during Dinner and the bread was concrete. Also, I really dislike the heavy vinegar sriracha sauces they use. Pho Binh also switched to Tabasco brand and it's not good.

This is the building the anti-Ashby High-rise folks envisioned.

Looks like it's on the east side of S Post Oak and Longmont?
The last one looks like it's in Downtown Raleigh, with some Uptown Houston building friends.

Sigh. This thread is just going to be arguing about whether to give the NFL a billion dollars from now on isn't it.
Guilty. So I spilt all the NRG comments including mine to https://www.houstonarchitecture.com/haif/topic/55-nrg-park-mixed-use-development/page/10/

HOUSTON – Now in its 16th year of use, NRG Stadium remains among the premier stadiums in the NFL.
Campo doesn’t believe Houston needs a brand new stadium to be awarded the Super Bowl five years from now.
“Even though it's 16 years old, it's still state-of-the-art. The way it was built, it's a timeless design. That design is not going to change,” Campo said.
All they need to do is paint it white and add more exterior/interior LEDs. Enhanced cellphone coverage and it will do fine for many more decades while looking as snazzy as the others.
Edit: Sorry, derailing this thread.

Sigh. Exactly what Houston needs, another banausic apartment tower.
Say it with me folks "It's great infill".

While the Editor is a allowed a sense of a humor, your first catch should have been a lack of local resin pyramid artists.

Yes, that's the name of the pre-security inter-terminal train.
It could use some TLC on those tight little turns. Plus the general space down there is devoid of any human touches. Feel like you're riding a tram into an underground lab (Half-life or Resident Evil style).

Let's stay on topic folks. If you'd like to discuss political issues there is a sub-forum for that.

What were they thinking? I mean, the hotel guests need to have a place to hang out at that's nearby.
Think they might be concerned of how bright their patio is at night.

Can't believe they did Tarka Indian Kitchen dirty like that. What an outdated info map. Shouldn't expect anything less though, the snippet map/MS Paint job speaks volumes.

The Sign is cool, but good lord, that interior! Looks like every smoke/joke shop in the late 90s.

WHAT is the fascination with khaki, red, orange and blue? This isn't the only new place that uses that color scheme...
Are you talking about affordable housing, or every single newer apartment complex in Houston? - The Greys (Windsor, The Travis), to the Grey/Khakis (Boone Manor, Venue, Sovereign, Regent Square, Alta River Oaks, Elan, Wescott), the Blue/Greys (Bellrock, COOP, 1011 Studemont, Windsor, Azure, Vic), the Red Brick/Grey/Blue (Azure, Pearl Washington), Reds seem to be more focused around UH.
