  1. does that article mention retail at all? it looks like that glass extends along the entire block. that'd be a pretty big lobby..
  2. i wonder if this area will ever actually be walkable? even with all these new towers, many of them are setback away from the street and lack any GRF. plus the infrastructure around uptown heavily favors cars. regardless, its always great to see some higher density.
  3. are you talking about 28/B on this map? http://www.downtownhouston.org/site_media/uploads/attachments/2014-09-12/140911_Double_Sided_Development_Map_Renders_Map_11x17_1.pdf it say est. construction start Q1 2015, but i haven't heard anything about it in a while. may have run into trouble edit: found the thread http://www.houstonarchitecture.com/haif/topic/29249-40-story-high-rise-for-block-98-behind-hess-tower/page-9
  4. on the page before this one, there is speculation about the tower never being built, followed by people speculating that it will be built in the future. long story short, its not under construction and no one knows when or if it will be.
  5. Transwestern's forecasts for 2015 http://www.bizjournals.com/houston/morning_call/2014/11/transwestern-forecasts-strong-houston-commercial.html?page=all some interesting numbers in there. it reports 14,760 units absorbed so far this year, with 24,000 under construction and 18,000 still proposed.
  6. ^^^ also makes it less likely for projects to start
  7. it'd be cool if they had a street artist paint a mural over it. could turn a boring grey wall into a destination.
  8. swamplot had an article about the other half of the lot being bought and will be developed. http://swamplot.com/everybody-ordered-out-of-the-kirby-court-apartments-on-steel-st-on-account-of-theyve-been-sold-again/2014-10-10/
  9. how does it look? i loved the original rendering, but i see the current thinner one as a step backwards.
  10. its not allowing me to watch the video posted earlier. did the design change again?
  11. From what I understand, MST supposed to have 22,000 square feet of retail including shop restaurants and a grocery store so I would imagine that corner would be pretty lively.
  12. Why Dallas? wouldn't Houston's economy be more vulnerable considering its economy is mainly based on one industry?
