  1. Be sure of one thing, if you get a ticket in a handicap parking spot, note whether or not there is a sign posted. Texas state law requires a regulation blue handicap sign (no homemade signs) be posted directly in front of the space no lower than 3 ft and no higher than 8 ft. If it's not posted fight the ticket. signs painted on the ground in the space DO NOT COUNT.

This is good to know because I got a ticket for parking downtown in a handicap spot last week. There were three head in parking spots and I parked in the far right spot. The center spot has a handicap sign up, but the place where I parked was just striped. I just didn't see the stripes because it was striped with dull gray brick and it was around 9:00pm.

I took a picture and it clearly shows the sign is in the middle parking spot. I guess it's time to fight. However the ticket does say parked in a stiped area.

  2. Apparently this happened IN the bar. They are still looking for the suspects.

The friends left the table and Lopez got into a brief struggle with a group of men, witnesses said. When patrons at nearby tables complained, the group of men left the club and Lopez remained at the table.

As Lopez's friends returned moments later, Lopez fell to the floor and people realized he'd been injured, police said.

  3. Thanks for the replys. I was looking at a house around Cullen and Dallas St (more like Sydney & Dallas). This particular house was on a good block (Dallas). All of the houses seemed to be in good shape, but there were a lot of cars parked on the street. I guess that's better than cars parked on lawns.

  4. I stopped by last Friday and they said haven't had an official opening yet. It wasn't crowded and yes, the skyline view is great.

The place will be good as long as they don't start with the shiny shirt dress code. I hope they keep it casual, at least for the upstairs area.

  5. Why did they change it?

I've often wondered why they all turn red at the same time.

They 1st did this because of all the construction that was going on, and because of the train. Along the East / West streets that cross Main Street affects the train. Right now the train has signal priority, meaning that the cross streets will serve the train as soon as they can

  6. TRAFFIC SIGNAL CHANGES!

Beginning Saturday, November 17, downtown's traffic signals will switch from simultaneous green to progressive green (domino effect rather than all at once).

The goal is to reduce stops which should reduce travel times, emissions and fuel consumption.

City engineers will be watching traffic closely to evalute the new plan and make adjustments as necessary.

  7. I had an option pending on this house for $165K and we were in the negotiation phase, but that was until I saw the inspection report. This house needs MAJOR roof and foundation repairs (roof leaking in the attic), along with some other important repairs.

I then offered $154K, or he could to repair some stuff and we could work on the numbers...he said no. Don't get me wrong, the house is beautifull inside and looks great cosmetically, but someone is going to have to spend at least another $20K to get this house structually sound.
