  1. ^^What? The Cowboys have no place in this thread first of all, and I think everyone knows that Gary Kubiak is from Houston.

No doubt, and he's not a new coach, it's his second year.

News Flash: Kubiak is an Aggie also.

  2. Speaking of mediocrity, did I mention that neither of the 2 teams with longer winning streaks are from Dallas?

BTW, is it true that Dallas City Council officially changed their name to Allas, since the Cowboys got no D?

No, but I heard that Arlington is willing to pass a law changing their name to "Darlington" so Jerry never has a problem with his "D" again.

  3. Well, if you didn't know, Chris Brown and Rhianna actually have a duet rendention of "Umbrella" where he sings, "You can be my Cinderella." while she is singing about her "Umbrella". I almost like it better than her by herself, but THAT is why he was out there.

That's right, I forgot about that version. I guess that's the connection. Thanks.

  4. Actually, Chris Brown performed on Rhianna's set. His ended, hers started, and he stuck around to hand her an umbrella. I took a bathroom break for Alicia Keys. I lost respect for her as an artist when she got up from her piano bench, put on that stripper outfit and started "dancing for dollars". She went from class to crap in about .2 seconds.

I'm still confused about the Rhianna performance. Chris Brown came out again after her *short* performance ended. It just wasn't well put together.

  5. I would love that, but I would want it to go on Richmond until Weslayan, then swing north to Westheimer. With all of the changing routes though, this line will never get done. Typical Houston.

This is what I've always thought too. The get the best ridership and provide the best option for all Houstonians, a line from Wheeler down Richmond to Weslayen then up to Westheimer would be most effective. However, I'd push for a subway from Weslayen/Richmond up to Post Oak/Westheimer before bringing it back to street level at Sage or Yorktown. Obviously from all the rhetoric we've heard, this is prohibitively expensive. I sure wish we could present it to the Feds though and prove its usefulness. Anything short of this alignment is a compromise.

  6. I wasn't that impressed with the Alicia Keys performance. I thought her rendition of "Freedom" was better than her own song, not sure why she sang it though. Chris Brown was awesome, I still can't figure out why Rhianna performed in the middle of it though. It seemed out of place.

  7. I definitely like the idea of a mini city inside the dome. It all seems very futuristic and I think it will draw tourists. It will be much like the Gaylord in Grapevine but with everything under one huge roof instead of just part of it. I think being in the dome will make it feel more like an open, outdoor space than an indoor mall or the Galleria does. The ceiling will be 18 floors above the floor of the development, you shouldn't feel enclosed.

Plus, being indoors, you take out the seasonal travel effect out of the equation. You don't have to worry about too much heat in the summer or too much cold in the winter. The pools can be open year-round and you never have to worry about getting your vacation rained out. I like it a lot.

  8. Maybe I don't get it, but if you build a parking garage around the dome, doesn't that mean you won't be able to see the astrodome anymore? Instead of seeing the astrodome, it'll just look like a massive parking garage from the outside. And wouldn't that block the possibility of having windows in the hotel rooms? Who wants to stay in a hotel with no natural light?

I'm pretty sure the idea is to have the hotel rooms all be interior to the dome. Therefore, the views would be of the indoor facilities, pools, ponds, shops, restaurants (i.e., the mini city). I don't think the plans include any views outside the dome. What's there to look at anyhow? The Reliant parking lot...

  9. Since when is the NFL about sharing? I'll be surprised if the NFL will allow this with their money grubbing ways regarding new stadiums.

Think what Houston did to satisfy the NFL. They should build two stadiums up there.

As a football fan I don't think there will ever be a sense of "home".

It's already done, they are breaking ground. Plus, the NFL loaned them $300 million to do it.

  10. EAST RUTHERFORD, N.J. -- The New York Giants and New York Jets broke ground Wednesday on the first stadium to be jointly owned by two NFL teams and unveiled how architects plan to make two competing teams feel at home in a $1.3 billion stadium.

"Ensuring that the stadium would feel like home to both teams and both groups of fans was our goal and also one of the biggest challenges in the design of the stadium," said Steve Tisch, chairman and executive vice president of the New York Giants.
