  1. What is the "Proposed New Luxury Pad" in the north parking area?

As an aside, calling the rebuild area the "Luxury Wing" is kind of obnoxious.

It's a separate building that will house a planned Chanel and Cartier store. I think The Galleria is simply suggesting what kind of stores they will be leasing space to in the Saks expansion. They have been closing and relocating quite a few stores to accommodate more desirable stores, same was done when the Nordstrom and Foleys wing opened.

  2. Forever XXI is taking the former Borders space, I saw the marketing beeing put up infront of the barricade. Its not H&M but alot better than what I expected, Simon has the tendency to lease space to anyone.

I expected Burberry to have an entrance facing Westheimer Rd, but it seems like it will not. I hope Louis Vuitton keeps its original plan to have a second entrance.

  3. Yes I beleive I was right, also I notice across the second entrance from Prada another barricade with Louis Vuitton "opening Spring 2012". I'm assuming Louis Vuitton is leasing more temporary space. Maybe one location will hold Men's and another Women's.

The old Borders has a barricade up already but no sign of what is opening there. I hope H&M takes that space.

  4. I hope the Vuitton expansion on to Westheimer does happen. I used to work at The Galleria, our store shared a back corridor with Louis Vuitton and other stores. Right behind Vuitton and Burberry was a huge empty space, Im sure thats the space being expanded on to. Likewise, directly above it behind Puma, Arden.B., and Abercrombie was another empty space. I remember peeking thru a door that read "PLANET HOLLYWOOD" and seeing a huge empty room. Im assuming at one point The Galleria had a "Planet Hollywood"?

  5. Or Saks relocating to the old(er) Macy's, and converting Saks into part of the mall, maybe even a Barneys. It will never happen though. My hopes were crushed when Saks began remodeling about 2/3 years ago. Saks Fifth Avenue in Houston is one of the most profitable, I beleive its a flagship and second largest store(sq ft) in the chain. Also I believe the building itself was designed by some super architect. Saks isnt going anywhere.

Louis Vuitton had/has plans to open a bigger store with a second entrance facing Westheimer Rd. Does anyone know anything about it?

  6. Ive always said that the only thing that could save Galleria III is Bloomingdales. Maybe if huge stores for Forever 21, H&M, Uniqlo, Topshop, Mango or Zara would each take space there it would attract more people to walk thru Saks Fifth Avenue. Throw in a restaurant or two and it will be even more inviting. Other malls have the same problem with low foot traffic in hidden/anex sections, the only difference is that theyre not owned by Simon... Who, lets face it should invest more time and money on this billion dollar mall.

The whole section needs to be remodeled to match the rest of the mall. New escalators, an elevator, maybe even a water fountain .. why not?

well i think thats about right . thats all i remember at the moment

  8. Ed Hardy just opened, Adidas will open later this year.

Ermenegildo Zegna opens in early 2009. (Finally) also in 2009 Valentino, Guess Footwear, Gilly Hicks (that huge barricade with a dog next to Wet Seal), Hilfiger Denim, Frette, and Cinnabon (will put you in a diabetic comma) will open.

Also Adrenalina, Avalon, Fredricks of Hollywood, Sneaker Lab, and Republic of Couture will open.

Lilly Pulitzer and Ruehl are long over due.

  9. I think they will eventually build a Galleria 5 though. BLVD Place is competition to whoever it is that owns the Galleria. Although they will have to get creative as to how they build it, I don't see much open land around there.

The Galleria will need to do something, with 4 mixed used developments opening all in the same area houston is going to get a lot of new retail it has never had before. Which will bring competion espically for people want to get away from malls. I think the galleria should do something with the dillards, its right off the freeway, so it is usually the first store people see when they go there. Then i would just tear down Galleria 3 and make it a outside shopping area.

    The Galleria doesnt own Dillards

  10. very true. johnny dang anyone?

OMG shut up. im all for new retail but i dont see the Pavillions attracting big names. Gap closed the Highland Village store. maybe they should anchor in DOWNTOWN.

i was going to die when i was at the Galleria, heading to the Starbucks on Level 3, steping out of the elavator i saw that theat small store called "Diamond Domani" i belive had a banner saying Johnny Dang!!! please someone tell me im mistaken.:angry::wacko:

  11. I just heard that they are building a Valentino were chanel is now and chanel is moving where ysl is. YSL is moving where that old bernni suit shop was right across the hall. There is a lot of action going on in the galleria, does anyone know if any other retail is planning on entering the market.

wait if anything i would assume Valentino will open where YSL is, because both Valentino and YSL are own by Gucci. Chanel is a total seperate company, and Chanel is almost 10,000 sq ft , moving to YSL space would downsize them. Disney was suppose to move near Nordstrom but nothing has happened yet. I have no clue where Billy Reid will open, but we dont need Billy Reid, we need Ermenegildo Zegna.

  12. just found out abercrombie and fitch should be building a new concept store in the galleria, called gilly hicks...they supposedly compete with AE's aerie and Victoria's Secret...not sure when they'll start construction, but the store I work in has an off-site storage that we're getting kicked out of for this new store to be part of

what store do you work at? im at A&F and we know that Hollister & abercrombie kids is closing for expansions taking over the levis store. we also know ruehl 925 is opening, but i didnt know about gilly hicks.

  13. The Banana Republic is already there...they're adding a Banana Petites and GapBody in the "old" Forth and Towne space...and btw where is this Ruehl going and when(I've heard for the past two years that it was coming to the galleria)? The one in Dallas was awesome...didn't really care for the clothes but the store itself was a really neat concept

Ruehl from my understanding will be next to abercrombie for kids and bcbg, we had some people at A&F coming to check out the space. (for some reason they were looking at some other space in the 1st level, so who knows) yeah its pretty rare , glad were getting a store.
