I really like the view you're talking about too...it has a nice color scheme going as well.

I really like 45 heading northbound going over 59 and onto the Pierce Elevated. The city looks so dense and love the Uptown skyline in the distance from there (not the mention the massive downtown skyline to the right and med center/inner loop/GWP skylines to the left).

I was wondering if BigFootsSocks was replying to me or someone else. Thanks for clearing that up. For the record, I "kind of figured" that was the case... There's been a few comments made on here about how so many renderings don't have any black people in them. My comment was (I thought pretty clearly) a joke in regard to that. It wasn't meant to "matter" or to be taken seriously at all.- 226 replies

I think that's overstating it just a little....that certainly wasn't my impression of that article. Avossos is correct about how those trees were mature and majestic, and they compliment the area very well. Not saying that the building should or shouldn't be built at this location or anything, just that it's sad to see them go. And I hate hearing people feel like they have to start a thought with "not that I'm a treehugger or anything..."

The fact that the price of oil has fallen so much in such a short period of time may still be news to some people. A week ago, it was about $10 higher than it is now...and 2 weeks ago it was about $20 higher. This is a developing story that may very well be changing the status of certain projects every day. It's not like the comments "waiting on" those comments are adding a whole lot to the discussion either. There's probably been more argument about "talking about oil prices" than there have been comments about oil prices themselves at this point. Just saying...

Yeah, I remember paying $4.15 for a gallon of regular gasoline just outside of Brenham right after Hurricane Ike. Some places were price gouging at the time, but I do remember oil reaching its all time high during that time...and then it dropped like a rock at the end of 2008. Oil reached $147 in mid July 2008, and then dropped down below $40 in December before creeping back up...while the national average for the price of a gallon of unleaded gas in mid July 2008 reached $4.11, and then dropped all the way down to $1.66 by mid December 2008 before it started creeping back up also.

What exactly is "irresponsible" about this statement? "As of a few weeks ago i was told this one was still moving forward but we've seen one hell of a decline in crude even since then... let's see what happens." Not trying to pile on, but you just acknowledged that demos happen all the time without a project coming to fruition. I don't think anyone is "blindly accepting" what swtsig is saying either. It's not even a matter of opinion anyways. His comment comes off to me as a simple wait and see approach. I don't see what all the fuss is about here. Perhaps just a misunderstanding or lumping the tone of previous comments in with this one, but that would be...dare I say..."irresponsible."

I think that it's important to have the insight swtsig brings to this forum, and I'm sure we all appreciate it on some level. I understand that some people (including myself) don't care as much about the ins and outs of the way these projects happen as much as I'm sure some others do, but I certainly don't mind reading it...and then when I realize it's not my particular cup of tea, moving on. There are people on here who care very much about these things as well as the architecture and location parts of it. The same goes for oil prices. While they may not be directly the preferred topic of conversation, and I personally don't care to read some of it...it does have a place for discussion in this forum (although it can get to feel like too much at times, but that's just the nature of human beings on the internet).
