The more "dramatic" curved side faces west. From main it's boxy and tiered.
Not you too Lockmat! You can't hide things from us.

They have already added to the scope previously discussed here. If anything happens to this building it will only get taller.
Is there a possibility that it will get taller? I don't want to blow this out of proportion like the rest of the thread has just because someone mentioned that Chevron(Phillips) might have a BTS near Exxon, but that would be pretty sweet if true. Regardless, this tower is awesome and the fact that a 2nd one might be in the works nearby is good enough for me.

It is indeed 23-floors (25 to the roof); will rise up to 346' ft.
They must not be so hush hush anymore! Spill the beans Urbannizer!(;

Most of this is not shocking news, we knew going in the first one off the ground would reduce demand for the others... My bet maybe one more gets off the ground before the other developers shelve thier plans at least for now..
So who do most thing will get off the ground next ? I am hoping it is Exxsex who has the most intresting design even more so than 609.. so who do you think will be the next to drop shovel?
Skanska seems committed to the site, so although it might not happen in the next couple years it appears they'll do something within the next 5. I'm interested to know what Stream means when they say they are "working on it". They've been marketing the tower for a couple years now, so hopefully they are close to signing some tenants!

Good to see this moving forward!

550 ft in only 32 stories that is impressive. If 609 Main had those floor to ceiling heights it would be taller than Chevron's new tower!

What on earth is sky terrace?
Maybe he meant SkyHouse.

I'm sure we will find out in the near future! If they plan a Dec 2015 finish then they should be transitioning from demolition to foundation work pretty quick right?

It keeps growing while 5AC keeps shrinking! They sure are dragging their feet, but it's good to see that it looks like they're going to go through with the project. I like the building even if it is a little boxy. :]

They are probably referring to the City of Houston, rather then the entire metropolitan area. The Houston Metro gained something like 120k residents if I am not mistaken.

Passed by yesterday and there were quite a few vehicles on the property. Also saw 4 or 5 people walking in and out of the building itself so hopefully things start ramping up.

Some more interesting information about the Southmore. It didn't look like it from the the floor plan renderings, but it sounds like they are thinking about putting some retail facing the public (within "designated hours") park planned for one portion of the property.

No, this would be another one (dug up the swamplot article) http://swamplot.com/the-townhomes-and-apartments-coming-to-willowick-court/2012-09-05/
"An additional section of the complex will be left vacant for a possible future tower."
2929 Weslayan is a separate project.
Great find! I was curious from the aerials what they planned to do with the portion of land they are leaving vacant.

2014 is looking like it will be a great year for Houston so far. No reason to scrap this one yet. If things start getting derailed in the next 3-6 months then we can start worrying because this isn't the only project that wouldn't be built.

One of my vendors. His company provides equipment necessary for any high rises, so they're always part of the bidding processes. He said they have quarterly meetings to discuss projects they're bidding on and what's in the pipeline.
I can't remember if he said they actually bid on this one or not. Let me contact him.
Edit: he said they haven't bid on it. It's just planned
Could you touch base with him and see if anything has changed in the last 3 months? I know this project is a (very) long shot, but it doesn't hurt to hope!

Is the City of Houston planning this? Is there anymore concrete information? It looks like it has some retail on the first floor which would be pretty cool! This might just be the mixed-used tower that we need anchoring the parking district. (;

Hooray! It's finally happening!
And quite a bit faster than expected! Nice to see some developers are chomping at the bit to get their developments going.

Is this project not going to move along as fast as expected? It also isn't listed on Central Houston's Development Map.

nvm.. key word, OFFICE TOWER. heh. i was thinking the new tower that was supposed to start in august was the other residential tower. i guess its one of the low rise office buildings then along Allen Pkwy? i didnt think there were office buildings planned along W Dallas where that mobile crane was located?
First it is apartments and retail that they are currently working on; nothing has been said about office space being started yet. What they seem to be starting is the park square in the rendering, although the rendering really isn't accurate anymore. The Sovereign was initially deemed phase 1 of Regent Square because it looks like the site is situated where some mid rise apartments were planned. Then in March or whenever they announced that phase 2 was going forward, but somewhere in there the Sovereign was separated from Regent Square as seen from their webpage. That's why it seems like they are just now working on phase 1, although they've had some of that equipment on the site for months.
What they just recently started, and seems to be phase 1 of the actual Regent Square development:
What they said was phase 1:

I'm interested to see their master plan to get an idea for how they want to grow this project. It seems they are putting some real thought into this, and the more I read about it the better it seems to turn out which is refreshing. Great things are happening in Houston!

The building just sold. Hopefully this is positive news for their other projects moving forward.
What you forgot to mention was that it was 92% leased! Got a nice sized lease right before they unloaded it.

Did I miss a site plan or something?
I was just speculating based off some of their work in Chicago. Sorry for the confusion!

They probably won't be more than 20-stories a piece, not too bad. I saw their work on their website - it's average.
It looks like they don't have very big footprints though so maybe they can help fill in some blocks. The density is nice though! I'm just hoping that downtown can continue this momentum once the incentive money is all gone.

3 office towers all going forward in downtown at around the same time... Must be those dang EaDo Station apartments again!(;
