  1. you keep throwing shell and chevron out there but i have heard nothing to substantiate those rumors - which isn't to say it isn't true but i find it unlikely given the status of their Houston facilities.this isn't to say that a very large o&g firm isn't kicking tires on a very substantial office in/near the woodlands, though (allegedly).

What do you do? You are clearly plugged in to the Houston Commercial RE scene.

  2. Yes I do. METRO shouldn't be paying anything to maintain the roads. That's the city's responsibility.

The city should stop being so damn cheap and repair the roads.

No argument here, but you have to see that the big heavy buses Metro runs contribute a lot to the terrible street conditions this town has. I can't argue against what you say.

  3. So drive, who cares.

You're very sensitive about the topic of United, and somewhat unnecessarily argumentative.  For the record, I do drive (from Denver) after flying in on Southwest.  I like to golf and most times it's cheaper to rent a car and drive vs. pay to ship clubs or skis.  As to who cares?  I'm sure both United and Southwest care.

It was a somewhat less expensive route when Continental was around, although it was still pretty expensive.  I'm sure the landing/take-off fees in a small mountain airport paly a big part of that.

  4. This route already exists during the winter, so it's not really a new route. Not complaining about bringing it to the summer though. Easier to get to the mountains, although when I've tried to book this flight during the winter it tends to be very expensive.

It is outrageous. I use to fly this one from time to time with my wife. Now we have two kids with one over the age of two and its just about out of the question.

  5. Houston is a lot less dense than either Boston or Chicago. I think there's still an expectation here that buying a home gets you your own property with at least a small yard, particularly in a neighborhood like the heights.

I know for me personally, I would love to buy a condo in or near downtown, but I have no idea what the appeal of a condo in the Heights would be.

I guess if you want in the heights but can't afford meaningful square footage a condo might bridge the gap
  6. They have had a Heights specific radio campaign for a while now. It has been directed at Kroger. The ads have "Heights Moms" who allegedly have comparison shopped between Walmart and Kroger. At the end of the ad, there is a disclaimer that the "Heights Moms" have been compensated. Looks like Walmart isn't getting the kind of grocery sales they wanted.

Why would you deduce that? Advertising means you sales aren't panning out? I'm pretty sure they were going to run an ad campaign no matter what.

  7. My can may not always be full each week, but I assure - 7 days of diapers outside in the heat, along with 7 days of picking up dog waste from two 70lb dogs and putting it in the trash can is enough to ensure that my can makes it to the curb EVERY week without fail....though admittedly my can is full 90% of the time.

I have pickup in my HOA by Allied Waste, but in my newlywed days I could've have gone a month with one pickup. Now with two kids my twice a week pickup is definitely used. Kids are wasteful.
