What I can tell you is it is the building portion and it's happening this month...
Is it normal to have that quick of a turn-around after a bid?

CoStar has an article from 4/30 stating this project has been delayed at least 6-9 months due to the pandemic.

Looks like they're building a structure within the existing structure - probably to take advantage of the prior code.

This half block is a great location to build mid-rise or high-rise luxury condos.
this is really the only block adjacent to the museum park light rail that isn’t owned by a non profit or already fully developed - lots of potential.- 6

I think they went overboard on the value engineering. $25k in additional/larger windows Would’ve gone a long way. Most mini storage facilities have more glass than this.

Is that a permanent "Now Leasing" sign? It's almost like a motel "No occupancy" sign

I think that strip center is going to renovate or be torn down soon. They've already lost 2 or 3 tenants.
Might be tough to tear down with Starbucks as a tenant - those leases generally contain tons of options tying the landlord into a suboptimal use for an extended period of time.

Looks like the entire block is for sale: https://www.loopnet.com/Listing/2710-McKinney-St-Houston-TX/17052230/
I think the address is incorrect in the article. The only site that makes sense is the old eado playhouse. -

They're only building on a 1/4 of the block at the corner of Leeland and Crawford. The other quarter that they own at the corner of La Branch and Leeland will be held for parking/future development.
