What purpose does the black mesh material serve?
To prevent random materials from falling down on the street.

Why does this remind me of those old apartments in south midtown, next to 59 and the spur
These are actually nice.

Even if the existing facade stayed as is, the building is in desperate need of a good scrubbing. I drive by it every single day.

YAAAAAS! This is such a great building! Good to see this will be saved!

When you realize the scale of this project, it's almost insanity to let this happen. You lose so much more than you gain.

I hope this project doesn't happen. The East End will lose alot.

Nevermind I found the article! Wow this developer is awesome! Tout Suite will be gone BUT thankfully we can keep this beautiful building as a landmark for the East End!

The building was designated a historic structure, and will be salvaged. TXDOT had to adjust the road around this building.
Are you sure about this? I read in an article from the leader of Preservation Houston that federal and state plans overturn local preservation. Where did you see that they adjusted the road??? I would be beyond happy to know this building would be saved. And what about the Tout Suite building?

Wow this is really great news! I really like how Upper Kirby District widened sidewalks along Westheimer. It makes that area feel so much better! So when do improvements begin?

As much as I love this overall, I can't help but question why this development has gaps in the brick sidewalks, terrible landscaping, and massive signs stuck in the mud that say NOW LEASING. It just seems very suburban for a lack of better words. I walked by today and I hope that over time these minor things settle in nicely to the urban landscape. On a side note, wth is up with Texas Ave??? They need to repave some areas badly.

Honestly it's working for Houston. Unlike other cities that developed from the core outwards, Houston developed in pockets that are finally starting to merge together cohesively. What I'm starting to see is the investment downtown is not only to make downtown great but to reconnect the city.

I think both neighborhoods are suited for those types of development. The thing is that Midtown is more modern and the East End is more industrial. Just two different styles.

Eado still doesn't have a real grocery store. What sense is there to put up a high rise??
Prob to attract a grocery store??? The people on the East End rely on small meat market places, which imo opinion are great! A big box gorcery store will prob kill those businesses. I mean with an increase in population and foot traffic, it will only be a matter of time before other things happen.

Man I hate seeing this go down. I know Hines will do something great but not knowing when is my problem. Such a massive scar downtown in the nations 4th largest city.
