Basically it was three rookie pitchers, the Giants have dominated the Astros in the Juice Box, and the hitting wasn't exactly making it easy either - plus berkman has been out the last three games.

Hokieone summed it up. The only bright side is that Lidge has pitched great in his last three innings pitched. I heard Garner say that is the closer again. Lets hope he can keep it together.

Houston bashing screams jealousy. Someone has to have a real reason to hate so passionately. You don't pick a disabled person out of a crowd and then beat them down (except for a few flat out cruel people). It's kind of flattering actually and makes me even more proud to be from Houston!

As for the Astros...

Way to go 'Stros.

Win 2 out of 3 against the Rangers. Let's keep it up :D

Uggh. The last two games against the Nationals have been brutal. The starting pitching has been great only to have the relievers throw horribly. We need some offense as well. Lets hope they can split with a victory today. I believe we are off to St. Louis next. If they sweep us they will probably run away with the division. Ugggh.

Sweet, I think he's apst his prime but I think he's a good morale booster

It is hard to say he is past his prime after the season he had last year. If the team would of scored for him he would have won the Cy Young award. This is definetely a morale booster. After the last few weeks the Astros have had they need all the help they can get.

A Good win agains the league leading Tards tonight. Lets win another tomorrow. If they can get hot there is still a chance this year. Lets hope Roger is for sure coming back. Apparently it is still not a done deal.

Welcome Back, Clemens!!! Here's da Chronicle...

http://www.houstonchronicle.com/disp/story...nt/3916966.html

Astros have not won a game since Clemmens announced his return. They are fading fast. Ugggh. You can't get swept at home by the team in front of you in the standings.

Lets hope there is still some 2005 magic left. They need a turn around quickly.

What's wrong wit' 'em!?

I don't think Roger is going to save them. Yes, they were in this same boat this same time last year, but what are the chances of such a huge turnaround happening again? I wish I could say I think it'll happen, but I'm losing hope with every game. So frustrating and disappointing.

the only thing that can save them is starting pitching. its not only getting Roger, but Backe and Oswalt healthy.

we're still in much better shape then last year, i haven't seen a tombstone in the chron yet.

Getting one hit at home is not a good way to play either. This team has made a 180 degree turnaround. In the wrong direction. They need to bust out of this slump and quickly. I still have a little faith. -_-

FAST FORWARD 6 days. All the sudden the good guys are playing with some heart again. The pitching has been much better and the runs have started coming it. Especially yesterday. 14 runs. Wow.

They are back to .500 and 6 games back. GO STROS. :D

Brandon was on Fox 26 last night, shown practicing at MMP and he said he's feeling really good. He said he'll go down to Corpus and pitch a few innings there and see how it goes.

I hope he'll be back and healthy. He's so passionate and such an Astros fan himself, being raised in Galveston. I love how he gets all excited while watching from the dugout. I don't think he sits down.

But yeah, I love Brandon. I even have a purple Backe 41 T-shirt.

Unbelievable series agains the Smelly Sox again. I cannot believe it! I'm still baffled how they managed to blow such a huge lead on Saturday and again last night. I know they eventually won during the extra innings last night, but still, it would have been so much sweeter and much more exciting if they hadn't gone from 9 to 9 to 9 to 2. Someone had to win in the extra innings. At that point I didn't even care. Still glad they won, but it wasn't fun.

Is it typical for Chicago fans to act like filthy, uncivilized, classless animals?

I noticed when Willy got a hit late in the game, they booed him. Come on, they've swept the Astros in like the last 6 or 7 game straight counting the WS, he gets a hit and they boo him? Astros fans don't behave that way. One of Chicago's fans had to be escorted out last night for some type of misconduct. I'll never forget last year during the WS when hit Patty Biggio on the back of the head.

I'm not defending all Chicago fans by and means, but i will defend that guy. He picked up what he thought was a foul ball. Once he realized that it was actually in play, he dropped it back on the field and covered his head in shame. it was obviously an accident on his part.

They ruled it interference, and let Everett keep his triple which he probably would have gotten anyways. no harm done, except for that fact that Chicago could argue that their right fielder had a chance to throw out Everett, the winning run, at third if not for the interference. Though the umps and commentators agree it would have been a triple either way, and Chicago didn't argue the call.

and when they booed Taveras maybe they were booing the fact that the run scored, which was Everett, the questionable (to the fans at the time) triple.

That is the same feeling I got. The reason they booed Willy was because they had lost the lead. Typically they are booing there own team at that point. I am not a fan of White Sox fans either, but I did not see much wrong with that booing.

The Astros need to get their act together. Playing the Tigers is going to be no easy feat. Lets hope we can take 2 of 3.

In my opinion, I don't think the Astros will make it to the World Series this year. I just don't see any good relief pitchers for us as of now.

Relief pitching isn't our problem. We may not have the supermen bullpen of last year, but they have performed just fine. Our problem is lack of hitting... situational hitting.

Roy throws a 1 run, complete game last night.. and loses. We must have easily stranded about a dozen base runners it seems.

Even as bad as we have been.. Cinci and St. Louis havent been much better.. as far as divisions go.. we are the weakest link. We could easily make the playoffs still if we get our act together.. but no.. I don't see us advancing to the World Series...

Especially since management seems to be focusing on the wrong kind of trades. Yesterday i see on espn that we are tenatively persuing Dontrelle Willis... What is that all about ? The last thing we need right now is adding to our overstocked and pretty damn good rotation.

I don't think that relief pitching is the Astros main problem. We need a good bat or two. If our guys can "step up to the plate" so to speak, or trade for a bat, we can make another run for the WS.

Aside from Load Em Up Lidge, it's not relief pitching. Gallo's gone. Nieve's looking like a long reliever that's got speed and improving control. Borkowski's a bit shaky, but will improve. Freaky Zeke is gone. They'll drop or trade off one more when Backe's back. (And they have Hirsch, Sampson, and Barzilla available when Roger blows out his hamstring for good or Andy Pettite throws himself on Roger's grill to end the pain and suffering)

Qualls, Wheeler, Springer, and Miller have their ugly days, but they're not as shaky as the start of the season.

It's hitting. It's all hitting.

Garner gave Ensberg, Lane, and Wilson a change to turn things around. Wilson's performed. Ensberg and Lane haven't. How long before they're toast, for crying out loud? December?

Ausmus is back to his old habits, giving Munson hope that Ausmus will do fashion shoots full time soon. Everett's worse than Lugo ever was, making Bruntlett look good.

I'd think at this point, Gary Gaetti needs to look back and see what's gone wrong. And he either needs to fix it or leave.

FYI Celebrity siting at Minute Maid last night, Rene Auberjonois was enjoying the Astros/cardinals game in the diamond club, behind home plate last night. He also attended a number of games here last season. He played Constable Odo in StarTrek: Deep Space Nine, and is one of the leading characters in ABC's Boston Legal, although I cannot remember his name on the show. In fact the only name I do remember is "Denny Crane", probably because William Shatner shouts it out 50 times an episode. :D
