  1. Project forthcoming: New Hope Housing Berry Approx. 9011 McGallion Rd. Houston, TX 77022 Supportive Housing New Construction Garden Style $10,000,000
  2. Anyone have experience with Avanti Cityside apartments located at 7373 Ardmore Street? Looks to be a TCR project from 2006/2007: Project Name: Alexan Cityside Developer: Trammell Crow Residential Address: 7373 Ardmore Street Size: 378-rental units in a 4-story building on 6.57-acres Architect: Wallace/Garcia & Associates Completion Date: January 2007 Website: https://www.avanticityside.com/ Buddy of mine wants to move closer to the medical center, but not directly in front. I mentioned the industrial area of Corder/Ardmore would be a good idea. I didn't see this multifamily complex on HAIF so I wanted to ask around for any reviews. I'm going to mention this one and the Virtuo Med Center located down the block at 7110 Ardmore St.
  3. The Bowery On Montrose was never built. I really liked the architectural design on this building. I wonder if they could re-use the architectural design for another multifamily building in a different part of the city? Rendering for the (now cancelled) never built project. Oddly enough, the project is still active, and displayed, on the developer's website (as of 10/05/2022) https://farbhomes.com/apartmenthomes/montrose/
  4. Does anybody know what's going on here? It's right on the red line and the block has had some activity recently.
  5. This is planned by the same developer of the Axis apartments. http://swamplot.com/new-jlb-apartments-will-replace-warehouse-buildings-at-nicholson-and-24th-st-in-the-heights/2014-04-29/
  6. Listed on the current planning commission agenda. Item #128. Latest rendering as of 6/2014:
  7. I know that there was a thread that discussed the fate of the Park Memorial Condos on Memorial Drive at Detering, but I suppose it was a subtopic of another discussion. As many know, this complex made the rather rare decision to put all 108 units up for sale en masse. This apparently infuriated at least one resident, who retaliated by notifying the City of an engineers report that there were structural problems in the complex. The City responded by condemning the property based on the report, and ordered everyone out. The owners sued the City, and the court found that the City could not condemn a structure without getting their own reports. The owners finally found a buyer who plans to raze the buildings and put up 372 apartments. The demolition began immediately, and is nearly complete already. I used to own one of these units. As I drove down Memorial this evening, I saw the demo, and stopped to get a few pics. Here is one of my former condo... This is from the back entrance. In the background, you can see Memorial. Previously, these condos soared as high as 4 storeys, 3 floors of living area over a parking area. You couldn't see Memorial from here. My unit was that slab directly to the right of the excavator. Kinda sad to see my old home disappear.
  8. 0' setback variance being requested for 5-story apts at Smith, Elgin, Louisiana and Rosalie. 2-story garage under 4 floors of apt space. Trees along Smith, Elgin and Louisiana to be preserved. New trees to be planted on Rosalie. "Windows facing the street will encourage residents to take "ownership," or responsibility for the sidewalk and the street." variance request: http://goo.gl/ao5ou see page 70ish map: http://goo.gl/tnKso
  9. Does anyone know what is going up? I noticed the crane earlier this week on my way to school. The location is between Buffalo Speedway and Kirby on the south side of 610, almost adjacent to Reliant Stadium.
  10. I'm guessing this will be multi-family, considering the company. They are also listed on the Planning Commission Planning Agenda for 4/14. The "company" listed is Brown & *** Engineers, the Developer, The Morgan Group. http://www.morgangroup.com/
  11. "The defunct Courtesy Chevrolet dealership -- which fell victim to the Katy Freeway widening project last year -- will soon become the site of hundreds of luxury apartments. The Chevrolet dealership was well known because it had an advertising jingle promoting its high-profile site -- 7777 Katy Freeway. Now, up to 400 residents could have that catchy address when the apartment complex is finished in June 2009. Trammell Crow Residential broke ground at the site on Halloween on its latest Alexan-branded apartment complex. Located on the busy freeway near Silber, the Alexan Silber will have 402 apartments described as ultra Class A by the Atlanta developer. The complex will have four floors of residential surrounding a five-story parking garage. The project will include two pools, a 6,800-square-foot clubhouse, fitness center and wine tasting room. Designed by Wallace Garcia Wilson Architects Inc., the stucco and brick exteriors will have a traditional feel." Bizjournal article. It's nice to see the feeder roads being used for something other than garrish retail. Having a view of the rat race could be interesting as long as the noise could be lessened somehow, although I'm thinking that's something that can only partially be cured and would become only white noise after a time.
