  1. Yep, pretty much the same topic. Can these be merged, please?
  2. I pass this building daily and haven't seen anything going on. They removed 1 small strip, then stopped. It looks to be in such bad shape - I would be shocked if it were turned into a hotel. I wish that were the case, because it was once a beautiful building, but it looks baaaaad. Also, there is a small narrow old building next to it. It's closed off to the public, and when you walk in front of the old doors, the smell would knock you over. Anyone know what that once was?
  3. I went to Stovall, and we were not all ghetto. Funny thing is we thought the same thing about Grantham
  4. I went to Aldine int he 90s, and the girls room had doors
  5. Isn't this possible walmart location still a rumor??
  6. Ok, this is waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay late, but I haven't read any posts in a few weeks. Anyway, the manager of the hotel across the street from Main Place told me that Banana Republic is rumored to be street-level retail. I'll believe it when I see it!
  7. Thanks for posting this! I hope the brick-paved streets of Freedmen's Town survive.
  8. Is the Dillard's still open? I know it's an outlet Dillard's, but anytime I have ever passed the mall (day or night), it looks closed.
  9. I hope something good happens for Greenspoint as I grew up going to that mall. But, sometimes I just wish it was put out of its misery.
  10. Thanks for posting that link, NenaE - so interesting! So the Beaconsfield is still standing?
  11. The little building was the original Savoy...the one still standing is a newer addition...who knows how long that one will stand. They tore down the older one because it was falling in on itself and bricks were falling from it creating a danger.
  12. This pic is awesome- thanks for posting!
  13. I saw a report on the Savoy Friday night on 13. According to the report, just the older building is going. The report also highlighted the $3.00 parking inside the Savoy garage...they interviewed people who park there during the week. It was kinda funny to see people's reaction to the $3.00 parking/building falling down around the parking garage reaction...guess that's why it's only $3.00!
  14. Thanks! The house looks to be in good condition in the picture. Is it open for tours or something?
  15. Thanks everyone! I hope they do open soon...I love dining there
  16. I drove by a couple months ago, quickly glanced and thought I read a sign that said "open soon" or something similar. Can anyone tell me if Ruggles on Westheimer near Montrose is still open? It looks like it is on their website, but when I called I just received a busy signal. Any info is welcome!
  17. You could look at it from a different point of view. I mentioned above I think there are no really spectacular ideas/uses for the Dome. Some may think it's actually a positive idea to tear it down rather than watching it rot away.
  18. Poor Dome...I don't think there are any really super awesome ideas for it. The only thing I could see is a casino.
  19. Can you tell us where that house is located? I would like to see it.
  20. I would say no due to the flooding and...have you driven around there? I wouldn't turn off of Yale onto a side street for anything. But, Midtown used to be a dangerous place, and now look. Don't get me wrong - I'm all for northside improvement (I grew up on the northside), but IH is rough.
  21. can't believe the pack of six dogs post is still going on

  22. The tunnel under Commerce Tower reeks of funk every single day...I can't walk through there without holding my breath. That new food court is right in the middle of the funk cloud
  23. Market Square Grill for sure - yummy hot ham and cheese....yummmmmm. Also Treebeards on Travis for lunch
