  1. Might as well just call the schools Cypress #9 and Cypress #10. I am pretty suprised there are 10 high schools in that area. If you would have asked me before I read that post I would have sworn there were no more than 3 H.S. in Cy Fair.
  2. Are you talking about the site that across the Hadley from Lil Woodrows. I believe they are putting in a shopping center there. I have not been over there in a few months so I might be way off, but I seem to remember a sign that read: "Coming Soon - Shopping Center." Of course similar signs are all over midtown so I could be off on the location.
  3. He could be back as soon as the All star break - 3-4 weeks from now or he might have to have Tommy John Surgery which typically takes a year to regain strength. Lets hope for the former.
  4. FAST FORWARD 6 days. All the sudden the good guys are playing with some heart again. The pitching has been much better and the runs have started coming it. Especially yesterday. 14 runs. Wow. They are back to .500 and 6 games back. GO STROS.
  5. I am sorry to here that. The good news is that I have excellent credit and I found a pretty woman to marry me. Hopefully both will last !!!
  6. I hated the hokey pokey. They made us do the hokey pokey in PE class in elementary school and I hated it. I heard it a few years ago and had to leave the room. Weird how a song can do that someone. I also did not like the ladies choice time because I was goofy looking and more goofy acting. Chicks never asked me to skate so I had to sit around and wait.
  7. We just moved into the neighborhood 7 months ago. I have not actually been to the pool (no kids so no real reason). My mother has a pool at her house in Briarbrove Park which works better for us. I have heard that the pool set up is very fun and family friendly. I see people there all the times and yes the tennis courts are still there.
  8. I came across this site while going a google image search for Astroworld. Basically this is a case study on Dome Stadiums and in particular our beloved Astrodome. Pretty interesting stuff. ASTRODOME
  9. Beef n Bird has been gone for a few years not. Then the owner of Chianti opened Morgan's steakhouse. It died pretty quickly and he put in a Chianti. Drove by yesterday and it looked closed for good.
  10. Yes, there are 4 that I know of. One is Westhiemer, another at Memorial and Kirkwood, another in Meyerland and the 4th is in Sugarland. I have been to 4 within the past 18 months. I love that place. I like the #8 = Two Puff Shells and a Cheese Enchiladas.
  11. You are too funny. I do not remember the limbo at Dairy Ashford Roller Rink. Did you ever skate/ have a school dance at the Walnut Bend Gym. I remember that place being a palace. Fast Forward 20 years and my attending a HOA meeting there. It is not a palace, except for the palace of dirt. As for my Friday nights. We are a partying couple that is lazy. We used to go out all the time, but lately things are a little different. My wife usually hits the gym on Sat. Mornings which means she goes to bed early and I hit the CPU for a little HAIF, online poker, or whatever floats my boat. We are sans children but seriously thinking about it. We both love kids, but don't love resposibility. As for the drive in. My father took my sister and I to see Jaws at a drive in when I was maybe 4. I remember watching about 10 minutes and then blacking out (sleep). What is amazing is that I actually remember the experience. My pops passed away when I was 7 so I do not have too many memories, but that one sticks out. My mother was pissed off, because I was afraid of the ocean for a few years after. Like I said, I probably made it through the previews and was out, but the thought of a big shark was all I needed.
  12. I had dinner with my mother last night and she told me the restuarant I was thinking was yamin's on Hillcroft was maybe not Yamin's. We are having dinner with my aunt on Sunday who will know for sure.
  13. I have ask since we lived parrallel lives. Did you ever couple skate at the Dairy Ashford Rink. I was usually too busy gearing up for the races they had. My buddy and I always won the derby race (one person crouches and another pushes)- I was the pusher !!! . I was pretty good at the all around speed skate, but there was some apartment kid who always won. I wonder what happened to him. Probably drank himself to death after all that early success. My Friday's at the Rink were great. Now my friday's usually mean I am drinking a few glasses of wine and posting on this site. LOSER ALERT.
  14. There are plenty of 24 hour bookstores around town for you to "relax" in. I guess that is not what you mean though.
  15. That just goes to prove the point that certain segments of the Houston Office market are stronger than others. Occupancy is extremly strong in the West Houston Submarket. The Energy frims are in growth mode and are continuing their expansion to the West. Now if we could get occupancy Downtown, Greenway, and Galleria to those lovels there would be some new spec towers built in those areas.
  16. We made the mistake of going on Saturday at 11:00am with the rest of the free world. It cost a pretty penny and the crowd was unruly. Too many pushy people and freaks invading my personal space. I was not impressed one bit with the exhibit, but I am also not a science person whastsoever. I like Real Estate, Numbers, Sports and booby bars. A friend who is a personal trainer thought it was spectacular and has been back three times. To each his own.
  17. Yes, Across from Bayou Mamma's is a class C office building. To the West of that Building was the Theatre. The building is still there so next time you are over there drive behind Hooters and you will see what I am talking about. As for Bayou Mamma's. We went there a few times in College too. I saw KC and Sunshine Band there in 1993. I was home for the summer from College (Colorado) and remember having the greatest time. It was right when disco was making a comeback (in a nostalgic sense). We knew all the songs and got super drunk and had a ball. Years later the placed changed ownership catered to a different crowd. A buddy of mine and I would venture in there for some fun shows. We saw Morris Day and the Time and I think we saw the Gap Band another night (or another band from the same era). It was so much fun.
  18. I think Dairy Ashford roller rink is still up and running. I have not been in there since I was 13, but I would love to check it out (maybe on a weekday when nobody is there). 19. You are thinking of Briargrove Three. Woodlake 3 was in Woodlake Sqaure at Gessner and Westheimer behind the Randall's. 10 or so years ago it turned into SRO and was a huge sports bar. It has floundered ever since. I totally remember Putt Putt across from Briargrove Three. There was also a Go Kart place attached. As for Memorial City. Your memories are correct. There was a big theater there that burned down. About 15 years there was another mutliplex built in the mall. It closed down 5 or so years ago (maybe more). I saw Dumb n Dumber there in 1996 or so. I believe they are building a new theater complex at the same location as the old one. Was the T&C 10 or 12 Theaters. I think you are right. I was thinking 12, but 10 sounds correct. There was a Chili's and Bennigens right there too. I think both of those are gone too. There was also a bar right next to the Theater that had a surf motif going. I remember going in at about 20 and drinking Mai Tai's. Good Stuff. I also don't like teenagers talking through all the movies and checking their cell phones for text messages from their buddies. But I still go 3-5 times a year.
  20. I think he might have had more than one location. Who knows??
  21. I remember Meypark 16 opening and we were in Awe. 16 screens. We used to drive from Briargrove Park to hit movies there. Of course we were 15-17 years old and driving was there half the fun. That place has gone downhill in the past years. I wonder when the next generation of Movie Theaters will come online. I heard they are building a new theater in Memorial City. This will be third such try at that mall that I can remember.
  22. That is a good question. I would go online and search acadamy, sports authority, etc etc.
  23. Are you referring to the place on Hillcroft beween Richmond and Westpark? If so I was friends with Steve Yamin. His dad owned the joint. I can not remember the ethnicity of the Yamin's. Maybe Middle Eastern of some sort, not that it matters one bit. They lived in Briarmeadow (where I lived) and Mr Yamin had a fire red Ferrarri (just like Magnum PI's). I do not know what his other business interests were but he always seemed sorta weird/shaddy to me. That could have totally been the difference in backgrounds (I am white bread). We used to swim at their pool a lot. Good family from what I remember. My cousin also worked as a dishwasher / busboy at Yamins and has some stories about the place not being the cleanest place around. Of course he was only 14-15 when he worked there. I think that location became Chic Topless and then was Rita's Pool Hall. It might still be, don't know.
