  1. I would like to see them pull this off with Northline, and they should get some new stores. On the other hand if this is turning into another Gulf Gate, Houston has no idea how to build cities. For goodness sakes. This area will be the future stop for the next light rail line. If anything they should make it an urban atmosphere with street lined shops instead of another strip mall like Gulf Gate. Then they could probably have light rail running pass the shops. But oh well, I guess something is better than nothing for Northline, because the area desperately needs help.
  2. Who will be the first to spark residential development in the parking lots near the Toyota Center and other parts of downtown? Maybe I am unaware about the residential development that will be happening in downtown for the future, but it seems like other than Shamrock Tower, there is not much going on in that field. I have a feeling that downtown could have a greater residential boom than nearby midtown, but developers are not giving it a chance. If one developer comes in, that could spark interest for developing the rest of the land near the convention center, but I still fail to see that. There are several residential developments on the outskirts of downtown such as Sabine Street, Lofts at the Ballpark, and the 2 new Sterrett Street projects, but look where they are are located. They might as well be in midtown. None of these projects will really have a direct impact on the core of downtown, which is really needed for a city the size of Houston. Downtown has made some drastic changes latley to become more of a neighborhood rather than another office park, but in order for this to happen, we need people. I don't know, I just wish Houston would stop catering to suburban Uptown and worry about the areas that can really change the face of the city. Downtown has too much potential, with surface lots waiting to be used, but developers fail to realize that.
  3. I don't even think downtown would look like that. Well not anytime soon.
  4. Any news on this so called canal under construction near the square?
  5. That actually wouldn't even look that bad in the city limits. Nice pics. I wish Houston could build some stuff like this from scratch in midtown somewhere.
  6. That fire museum has nice curb appeal. Those type of buildings make great photos. Kind of like the Calais on this webpage. http://texasexplorer.com/MidtownHouston.htm
  7. Check out the views at the website. The daytime ones suck, but the night time ones are .......... well just take a look. http://dominionpostoak.com/
  8. They are buy to own, and are actually pretty affordable compared to places like Manhattan condos. You can get a 3 bedroom/3 bathroom that is over 2000 square feet for 339K.
  9. Well we can look forward to seeing construction of The Edge. I thought this building was going to be stucco, but it looks like it will be brick. Love brick buildings. They just look more urban, and they age very well.
  10. I would like to find out more info on the Midtown TIRZ.
  11. The website is now up. The music is really funny. How lucky will those rich bastards be lving up there. Orion
  12. I think it is kind of hidden for someone not from Houston.
  13. I don't think Batou Place is that bad. I kind of hate how far away it is from the sidewalks and to the street. I always thught Houston's Hard Rock Cafe was kind of small for a city its size.
  14. Can anyone tell me why the park cost 80 million dollars? It must be something more than greenspace. I have to admit that I am kind of conservative when it comes to the subject of homeless people in downtown. I think more development will fix the problem though.
  15. What was the point of posting the view of downtown Houston in this thread? Some of these threads are just kind of random in my opinion.
  16. I'm sorry. I don't want to be an ass, but am I the only one that thinks these threads get way off topic or have no type of relevance of what is going on in Houston? I visit the Dallas forum sometimes, and they talk about city issues, construction, and things that actually have relevance in a city forum. I don't know, I just see a lack of that here. I know I am kind of a newbie here, and I do not want to be a party pooper, but threads like these are all I have been seeing since I have registered.
  17. Why do we always post pics of what other cities have? We barely even talk about what is going on in Houston anymore. It's always, what if?
  18. Does anybody know if the dome will glow at night? DT hOuston needs some light. Thanks for the pic jmancuso.
  19. Since Houston is so hot, I wish the Galleria would build something like this. It looks like an outdoor shopping district, because it looks like each store is a seperate building with its own storefront. This mall is located somewhere in Birmingham England.
  20. All cities are great choices, but I say Atlanta is out of the question. They have the most populated downtown out of all cities listed, but it is still dead. I think it will go to Houston, just because of the venue and we offer just as much as the other cities. It would have helped if Reliant was built in downtown though.
  21. 300 St. Joseph Parkway at the border of downtown and midtown. Map
  22. I think they could have done without the parking slots. Parallel parking would have been better.
  23. Here are some renderings of the interior
