  1. I’ve been to their Spring Branch location and it’s fantastic.
  2. How do restaurants like The Chelsea spend so much in up front costs to build out a restaurant, all for it to ultimately fail within a year? I’ve been to The Chelsea (once) for happy hour and it was clear to me that they wouldn’t last. Ordered oysters and they arrived at the table partially frozen. Yuck.
  3. Great addition! https://houston.culturemap.com/news/restaurants-bars/perseid-hotel-saint-augustine-aaron-bludorn/
  4. Spirited discussion about this development happening on Reddit r/Houston: https://www.reddit.com/r/houston/s/9TR4L3oUGn
  5. Does the exterior give anyone else 1960s Lamar Tower vibes? Not exactly modern looking.
  6. Rent starts at $1200. That’s less than a mediocre garage apartment in the neighborhood.

  8. Is Matt Mullenweg (founder of Wordpress) a benefactor to the Menil Foundation? I know he’s from Houston, so would make sense.
  9. I wonder what the average age of a resident is at Lamar Tower. My guess is 76.
  10. The property is in “Coming Soon” status on HAR with a list price of $850,000. https://www.har.com/homedetail/1604-sul-ross-st-houston-tx-77006/3074458 According to HCAD, Menil Properties has owned the home for the last 30+ years. This is the first time I’ve seen Menil sell one of their bungalows. I wonder why…?
  11. Looks like this is opening in June according to the sign out front. Any guesses on what type of ground floor retail will go in on the first floor?
  12. If only The Heron was built one block west of its current location (where the Fat Property apartment complex and Texas Pizza are), it could have been called The Heroin.
