editor
Took these back in November. Finally got around to doing something with them. Wells Fargo Tower Skyline from the Walker Arts Center Spoonbridge Minneapolis skyline. Minneapolis skyline. Minneapolis skyline. Minneapolis skyline. Minneapolis skyline. Central Library The ruins of an old flour mill have been turned into a museum and mall. IDS Center. Half offices, half hotel. Stayed here once. It's nice. The new theater has a bridge to nowhere extending over the Mississippi River. A couple of stripey buildings (Fifth Street Towers). Dain Rauscher Plaza. Campbell Methun Tower in the foreground, but you can see the illuminated crown from 225 South Sixth in the back. Basilica of Saint Mary Basilica of Saint Mary AT&T Building (real AT&T, not SBC; the local telco is Qwest [u.S. West]). Reminds me of bamboo. 225 South Sixth Street

houstonmacbro
Wow, that is a sweet looking city!
ricco67
the skyline has changed considerably since I was there. It's always been a lovely town (in the summer). No pictures of their rail system, eh?
shinoda28107
I know that city has a great looking CBD. I think that Minneapolis and the surrounding areas are among the nations most beautiful hidden gems. I actually place their highrise architecture in my "top 5" list. Pumapayam
Spoonbridge Whom ever thought that a spoon was that bent was a moron. Looks cool still, but overly angled to be a spoon.

editor
the skyline has changed considerably since I was there. It's always been a lovely town (in the summer). No pictures of their rail system, eh? A few. These are from Thanksgiving, 2005, though. It's not that much of a rail system yet. Just one line. Connects downtown to the University of Minnesota to the airport to the Mall of America. But it's great for a quick weekend trip. My wife and I are doing a Valentine's day getaway where we'll fly into MSP, take the train to our hotel downtown and do a little shopping and eat at the restaurants at the Mall of America. The big incentive for going to MSP instead of another city for a quick weekend away is that we won't have to rent a car, which saves about $130 ($35 car rental x 2 days + $60 insurance). Anyway, here are the pictures taken on a snowy Thanksgiving morning: And before anyone asks -- no, I have not heard of any incidents where soccer moms have made left turns with their SUVs and crashed into the trains. ricco67
And before anyone asks -- no, I have not heard of any incidents where soccer moms have made left turns with their SUVs and crashed into the trains.I kept track of news reports coming out of there and the Hiawatha line still has some accidents. While there has been fewer accidents on the Hiawatha line than Metrorail, but theirs has been more catastrophic resulting in 2 or 3 deaths. The design of their stations is brilliant, I thought. For one thing, there is a heater mounted over the platorms that can be activated by people that will last for 5 minutes.
