Trae
Michael Ennis The Mighty Metroplex Dissed for decades as a colorless, conformist jumble of cities and suburbs, it has become a roaring engine of economic growth—and is reigniting Dallas’s fading star. THERE WAS A TIME WHEN no sober-minded Dallasite could utter the word “Metroplex” without an ironic smirk. A catchall for Dallas, Fort Worth, and the dozens of lesser municipalities around and between them, the term was coined in the seventies to boost the region’s new centerpiece, the sprawling Dallas—Fort Worth International Airport. TxDave
This article is from the Jan 2007 issue of Texas Monthly. It does provide a good overview of what is going on in the DFW Region (note: intentionally avoiding the unpopular "metroplex" term)It really highlights how a metropolitan region can evolve beyond municipal boundaries - and the impacts to the various players. MidtownCoog
Nice. But Texas Monthly must have lost their editors. That's a lot of comma splices and excessive use of jargon.
TheNiche
Nice. But Texas Monthly must have lost their editors. That's a lot of comma splices and excessive use of jargon. No kidding. They try too hard. I've never liked their magazine for that reason, among others. I'll stick to Texas Highways.
