musicman
http://www.houstontx.gov/planning/suprnbhd...use/sn67lu.htmlNattyThe link Niche posted is what most people typically consider 3rd ward. When you mentioned that you're remodeling a house that costs more than half a million, it does make one think twice because most of the homes in 3rd ward as defined by the above link are modest. Now if you are talking Riverside Terrace, which is sounds like you are, then the half a million comment makes more sense. I was on Blodgett and live oak yesterday and was surprised to find a Midtown Dialysis center because that definitely isn't Midtown! Sounds like they are confused too! TheNiche
Good idea. Make it happen.Evidently, the Merc and CBOT beat me to it. They aren't in Texas markets yet, however, much less specific neighborhoods.http://recenter.tamu.edu/tgrande/vol13-4/1793.html
lwood
Thanks, JM. I've been looking at houses for a couple of years, and I've come to the conclusion that I'm so picky I won't be happy with anything that is already built. Also, I like a lot of non-traditional stuff that you don't see very often, and I absolutely require a pool. I know the land is going to be more than I want to spend, but of course I want to pay as little as possible. Niche, I work near Holly Hall and 288, and need to stay around that area because of work commitments. I'm willing to go east of 288 or south of the Loop if the neighborhoods are decent, as well as just about anywhere else within a 10-15 minute drive. I'm not jazzed about going south on 288 because of the traffic issues. I am cautious about neighborhoods, as I am a single woman who lives alone. Again, if anyone has any recommendations on builders, contractors, real estate/land agents, or architects, I would love to hear them. Thanks in advance! In the best situation, designing and building a new home is a challenge. One year ago I used Tom Tynan Homes as the builder. I'm very happy with the product. PM me is you would like additional info.
