Is it on York or Sampson? I noticed in passing a big brick warehouse with a lot of glass blocks somewhere along one of these streets earlier tonight.

no however is on the same side of town

Cemex on Navigation?

No farther south.

sorry for the bad quality of this photo but i was being escorted off the property when this was taken. the site can be seen from a major thoroughfare.

no it is actually leased out to many entities...i think one is head start (or something like that). their brochure had ESL classes, etc.

I also thought that UH owned that business park now, and leased it out.

I recognized the building right away with the third clue...I've never seen the rounded part either. Of course, I've never been on the Schlumberger campus in my life, just been driving by it all my life.

Apparently I'm wrong...UH is only a tenant. According to HCAD, UH never owned the University Business Park (formerly Schlumberger).

Here's an excerpt from a Houston Chronicle article from February 2005:

http://www.chron.com/disp/story.mpl/busine...ff/3036663.html

Schlumberger site sold

A 70-acre business park that originally housed the North American headquarters of global oil field services firm Schlumberger has been sold to an investment group.

Houston UBP Partners, a group of individuals from Houston and Chicago, purchased the University Business Park at 5000 Gulf Freeway near Telephone Road and just east of the University of Houston campus. The property includes 30 acres of undeveloped land.

Schlumberger moved from this location, which opened in 1953, to its current facilities in Sugar Land in 1994.

The property, which now contains nearly 600,000 square feet of office and warehouse space, is only about 45 percent leased.

Tenants include the University of Houston, the Gulf Coast Community Services and the Museum of Fine Arts, Houston. The property will continue to operate as a business park.

The new owners are considering selling the 30 acres of undeveloped land along the back of the property.

Based on the groups that made offers on the property, that land could end up in the hands of a home builder or apartment developer.

Jeff Peden, Ken Page, B. Kelley Parker and John Littman of Cushman & Wakefield were involved in the sale.
