ricco67
according to this article in the chronicle. A bookstore which seems to have a loyal following was saved from closure after the owner announced his going to be a Director of Programs for the Menil Collection.A group of people have put up their money to keep the bookstore from closing and plan to only make some modest adjustments in how things are run. They are not expected to reap a profit from the store, it's a noble way of a group of citizens are willing to put money where their mouths are and step up to the plate. For that I give them a hearty applause and thanks for contributing to a community and a cause where others have merely paid lip service. More of those of means should look upon them and be shamed into doing actions which are not merely profitible, but things that are RIGHT to do above the potential of monetary gains. Subdude
The Brazos has a great selection of architecture and local books, and it's wonderful that they are going to remain in business, but I'm not sure that it is an issue of right and wrong. Economics tends to trump morality in these things, for better or worse. The days of the independent booksellers are long over it seems.
