"Given the economic challenges we've faced this year, we're not all that unhappy with the numbers."Sweeney cited recent improvements in the Chronicle as reasons for optimism. "It's our commitment to strong news coverage, our easy-to-read format and our first redesign in more than 20 years that will attract younger readers going forward," Sweeney said.According to the ABC report, the Chronicle's daily circulation increased an average of 1,767 copies
westguy
It's nice of them to finally print something about the 100,000 killed in this war after the election. I know this would never sway the votes of Texans, but since so many of them cited "morals" as the reason for voting a certain way, they should have been told that the moral man they were voting for was the cause of all of this. The Houston Chronicle - keeping readers ignorant since 1901.
UrbaNerd
The chronicle is biased. Almost everything in it is available online, for free! Might as well look online!
ricco67
well, for a little unbiased viewpoints perhaps you could look at chronicallybiased.com They seem to be fairly level headed people. To be honest, you have to be a fool to rely on just one form of media. I go to: Drudgereport.com nytimes.com nypost.com washingpost.com bostontribune.com chron.com cnn.com abcnews.com apnews.com english.aljazeera.net bbc.co.uk msnbc.com reuters.com cbsnews.com foxnews.com and various other cities I have book marked from time to time as well as various weather sites. dbigtex56
Hasn't chronicallybiased.com moved to/renamed itself lonestartimes.com?My link directs me from the former to the latter.Oh, and I hope you'll explore other media outlets, too. I wouldn't call the ones you mentioned a balanced diet.
ricco67
Chronically biased is biased to everything AGAINST the chronicle. While one particular source of news may be bad, but going out of ones way to disprove every nuance of the article borders on the obsessive compuslive. We all have different views on the same subjects and we all see the same slant. it's the proper (and morally right) thing to do is not to judge by another's viewpoint, or to change them altogther, but simply understand why and come to a compromise. UrbaNerd
Of course, I do have other sources, such as CNN, and a few others, but I usually study some of the news articles, and then determine from there.
ricco67
Studying a news article is akin to studying the ingredients of breakfast cereal:Mix the news one way, you get a different brand and flavor. Mix it another way, you get a different brand or flavor.Of course, if you don't understand the ingredients or the proper proportions, then you're just taking a big WAG. Watching how different newspapers from different sources and countries gives a true balance. One is too far to the left, the other is too far to the right. So how do you assume what is the middle? Ricco
UrbaNerd
I dont assume. I just study the different sources, and seperate the meat from the bone.
Sunstar
It's amazing how great your circulation can be when you have no competition.
UrbanLandscape
It's amazing how great your circulation can be when you have no competition.<{POST_SNAPBACK}>Also remember that bigger isn't always better. The fact that a paper like the Chronicle can make it like that is proof of that.I'm really glad to see the Journal is up around the top, as usual.
