Highrise Tower
I recently discovered another Wyatt C. Hedrick and Gottlieb building that was built in the 1920s. Thought I would share this information regarding this old downtown bank. Very cool history here!!
Ross
IIRC, it's connected to the 1111 Bagby lobby. I haven't been in 1111 Bagby for over 20 years, though, so I could be wrong.
Highrise Tower
This afternoon the rain stopped so I went for a walk in downtown. I have always heard about the Farm Credit Banks building but never stopped by to take a look. Breathtaking! The exterior ornamental work is incredible. The outside historic plaque mentions the restoration architects, but there isn't an original architect listed for the Federal Land Bank. I wonder if it was the "star architects" of Houston in the 1920s? Alfred C. Finn, Joseph Finger, William Ward Watkin, or even Kenneth Franzheim. The list of historical bank ownership transfers are: Federal Land Bank/Federal Intermediate Credit Bank/Bank for Cooperatives/Farm Credit Banks. Restoration 1977 S.I. Morris Associates, Restoration Architect. Photos I took today:
