hindesky
So I talked with site landscape supervisor and a guy overseeing this project. Landscaping company - 6 Diaz Lawn Service Overseer - Permaculture Design They will add 31 Live Oaks to Audubon Place median, the guy overseeing this said it has nothing to do with the 72" water line but is being installed by Trees For Houston. They have already added many trees throughout our neighborhood, I counted 27 to all the streets in this neighborhood. Yesterday as the crew dug the holes. Today after they were installed. 5

hbg.50
That’s nice but I’d rather see more trees planted downtown.

004n063
We shouldn't be pitting neighborhoods against each other when it comes to trees (or sidewalks, for that matter, Mr. Whitmire), but we also shouldn't pretend that trees are not a major equity issue in this city, to the point where it really shouldn't be something that depends on neighborhood coalitions working with nonprofits. In fact, I'd say that this is really the only sort of project - already leafy and walkable location, relatively minor in scope - where that approach should be taken.
