JClark54
Last week, the U.S. DOT announced recipients for the FY 2023 Safe Streets For All program, a Bipartisan Infrasture Law grant source. Greater Northside Management District was awarded $10,413,200 for improvements along Airline Drive, Bissonnet Street, Jensen Drive, and Tidwell Road. Work includes the installation of rectangular rapid-flashing beacons and the construction of new sidewalks to complete the sidewalk network along the project area. Other key elements include pedestrian refuge islands, hybrid beacons, wider sidewalks, multi-use paths, improved bus stop accessibility, and improved street lighting. Houston19514
Cool. But Bissonnet Street? Is there really a Bissonnet Street on the Northside?

Yeah that had me scratching my head as well...I wonder what street they are referring to? Little York maybe?
j.33
Appears to be that Northside Management District's safe streets will be grouped with International District's so that is why Bissonnet Street is included in the description. @steve1363 and @Houston19514 Greater-Northside-SS4A-FY23.pdf (houstontx.gov) Edited December 20, 2023 by Justin Welling tagged above users so they could see the response 1
deb bonario-martin
Let's hope GNMD gets around to alerting super neighborhood northline and holding stakeholder meetings. Watching drama unfold over Houston Ave improvements tells me this would be a good idea. That and Northtown Civic Association of Greater Northline members on the planning committee over 5 years now have very little communication from these folks who primarily concern themselves with Greater Northside.
