terrbo
We drove around Sunday.. getting to be a habit. Where we were (around Minetta and around Fairmont and Canemont).. mostly industrial and some funky pretty old homes, closed down childcare, etc. but found this old house on Minetta almost at Fairmont. Being the Houston history curious person and not particularly an architect, wondering.. how old is this house.. and anyone know the subdivision around here. Not much new construction.. We also drove around West Orem from Beltway going east. There are some nice older homes around there.
jm1fd
Wow. That's a pretty cool building. Has both residential and commercial looking features. The electrical service looks most definetly residential. That big square windowless space towards the back looks like a warehouse, and the overall look of the place makes me think "Mexican Food Served Here"
Dan the Man
From the Houston Architectural Guide:14410 Minetta Street(1934) F.McM. SawyerRoy B. Nichols, then postmaster of Houston, developed this subdivision, Main Street Gardens, 12 miles outside Houston on the Main Street highway. Nichols had Sawyer design for him this diminutive, picturesque Mediterranean style house, which is built of reinforced concrete block.
