Highrise Tower
Need to finally figure out what the deal is about his farm, or ranch, located in the Texas Medical Center on Wyndale Street. I assume a farm, because the structures include barns, kennels, sheds, dwellings, and hay. Found it on Google Earth from a 1944 view!! The structures line up with the 1950 Sanborn map! MD Anderson's 1MC building and garage is located next to this, in the present day.
Highrise Tower
In 1967, this parcel of vacant land was 38-acres in size and owned by Mrs. Brown. Would that be George Rufus Brown (George R. Brown)'s wife Alice Pratt? I don't know who else, a famous Houstonian, would own 40 acres in a developing area. Must have been rich! Property was sold to TMC by Dorothy Brown, a widow living in New Orleans. She bought the land from R E "Bob" Smith, who apparently owned most of that part of Houston. Dorothy Brown was teh widow of Joe Brown. They were wealthy folks in New Orleans, oil and such, owned race horses, etc. Their foundation still gives to various causes.
