From Eater Houston: After shuttering its Rice Village outpost in 2016, it looks as if beloved Houston sushi purveyor Kubo’s is making a comeback inside the loop. New tax filings with the Texas Comptroller of Public Accounts’ office indicate that Kubo’s will open a second location at 1902 Washington Avenue, taking over the space formerly occupied by another sushi restaurant, Kukuri, which suddenly closed its doors after about six months in business. Way back in 2016, the Houston Press reported rumors that Kubo’s would be relocating to Washington Avenue instead of closing. That didn’t happen immediately after the shutter, but definitely appears to be in the works now. Details on the new menu are not available at present, but diners should perhaps expect a broader range of Japanese cuisine. The name registered with the Comptroller’s office for the new Washington Avenue restaurant is is Kubo’s Sushi & Washoku, a word that translates to “the food of Japan.”https://houston.eater.com/2018/9/6/17826680/kubos-sushi-washington-avenue-opening

The tenant is a restaurant from the team behind Handies Douzo and Kokoro restaurants. https://houston.eater.com/2021/3/8/22319397/new-full-service-sushi-restaurant-opening-daniel-lee-patrick-pham-handies-douzo-kokoro At the time of the published article, the working name for the restaurant was Fuku. There was an Instagram for the restaurant either as Fukuhtx or Fukuhouston However, the name was changed shortly thereafter to Aiko and the Instagram changed to 1902Washingtonrestaurant or something along those lines. I brought this to Eater Houston's attention, but they decided not to inform their readers of the possible new name. It seems plans are still in motion for the restaurant and the name is Aiko. Recent building permits and sales tax permits filings indicate this. Additionally, the Instagram for the restaurant changed it's handle once again to reflect the official name. https://instagram.com/aikohtx

IntheKnowHouston
1902 Washington / 1902 Washington Ave appears to be part of a collection of buildings that make up East Washington. East Washington is the name Lovett Commercial marketed 1818 Washington Ave until a few years ago. According to documents submitted recently to the city's planning commission, East Washington also incorporates 1902 Washington Ave. The Sawyer Yards master plans seems to indicate 1902 Washington Ave will include a phase two. Next to the existing 1902 Washington building is are two proposed buildings highlighted. One of the buildings may consist of two levels totaling 19,800 sf.

The tenants are listed under each building. Furthermore, the table notes plans for future tenants in East Washington's new phases.
