I, too, have chosen not to watch the H Town Rush program.  I was out of the city for quite a while and horrified to find what happened to the morning program that I had watched every weekday morning since moving to Houston in 2012.  The show now feels more like a reality type show, which I don’t watch, either,  than an informative news program.  I am watching KPRC Channel 2 these days and switch back to watch the CBS morning news at seven A. M.

It seems you're not the only one who's NOT impressed!

I’m sticking  to channel 13 breaking news when other channels showing winnings on sports/ also channel 11 has a lot of people talking at the same time giggling and a laughing and giggling

The laughing & giggling is annoying at CBS 11 KHOU-TV Houston.

What about the Weekday Morning crew at Fox 26 KRIV-TV Houston ?

Understandable but, darn, she is so much fun to watch. 😞 She always seems so cheerful and happy. I wish her the best and I know which station I'll turn to when I am in Austin.

I have long wished for another newsmagazine show like the one Steve Smith did years ago. I cannot recall the title, or if it was Sat. or Sun. morning.

If memory serves, they did some longer stories on various topics that were original segments, and not just repeats from previous regular news shows. Must have taken some effort to put together. Ray Miller had a segment chatting with Steve, and then playing a video,  and I believe these were new work (probably could not have gotten permission from KPRC to play Eyes of Texas footage). Anyone else remember this show?

The show you're recalling was "Steve Smith's Sunday Morning" and I think it was on around 9:30 AM. I think it survived a few years into the 1990s. Had a very memorable (to me) theme.

That sounds like the general format as well. Occasionally he'd have an interview that would be teased during a newscast in the week prior as part of continuing story.

Ray Miller actually worked for KHOU during the mid 80s into the early 90s and had a regular segment called "Ray Miller's Texas" that were similar to segments seen on The Eyes of Texas, but those were just weekly segments that ran during the news, and likely during this show as well. It sounds familiar anyway. He may have also done an occasional special, but not a weekly series like The Eyes of Texas.

It'll be intriguing to see who'll be leaving CBS 11 KHOU-TV Houston next 🤔

Just as many predicted from the get-go: Xavier Walton left CBS 11 KHOU-TV Houston & yesterday was his last day at the TEGNA Station according to Mike McGuff of mikemcguff.com:

All of Tegna's stations on DirectTv/ AT&T U-Verse have gone off the air nationwide as of Thurs. night. They are in a dispute about the fees Tegna wants and Direct/AT&T U-Verse are willing to pay.

"Some sports fans in the Houston area might have to leave their homes to watch two of this weekend's biggest football games.

For DirecTV and AT&T U-Verse customers, KHOU 11 went off the air Thursday night as a result of an ongoing contract dispute between DirecTV and Tegna, the company who owns the channel. This is an especially significant development from a local sports standpoint, as KHOU is the Houston affiliate for CBS, which will air both the Houston Texans' game against the Denver Broncos on Sunday and Saturday's SEC championshipbetween Georgia and Alabama.

"We are negotiating with DirecTV, but thus far, they have refused to reach a fair, market-based agreement to keep our station on DIRECTV and AT&T U-verse," Tegna said in a statement on KHOU's website. DirectTV responded with a statement of its own, which read "Just as they have done with several other video distributors, TEGNA has once again forced its programming out of DIRECTV and U-verse homes and businesses. As one of the nation’s largest broadcasters, TEGNA is doing this to extract double-digit annual rate increases from customers in 52 metro regions across the U.S."
