Lathan Gets The Boot; Saavedra Is Back

HISD School Board of Trustees voted last night to give Grenita Lathan the boot & brought back former HISD Superintendent Abe Saavedra to his old job.

The Jolonda Jones/Wanda Adams/Rhonda Skillern Jones wing of the HISD trustees has been badly bullying the other trustees, Anne Sung and Elizabeth Santos in particular.  This was really just about those trustees being tired of going along to get along and showing that they will no longer put up with getting pushed around.  Saavedra is just a temp until a national search is concluded to find a permanent trustee.  And it may not even matter as a state takeover of the board has only been delayed by a reprieve from TEA for Harvey affected schools.  Saavedra and Latham are really not the issue as much as it is a brawl between two factions on the board.
