Amlaham
Interesting, NRG will be called "Houston Stadium," AT&T will be called "Dallas Stadium," Sofi will be called "Los Angeles Stadium", and MetLife will be called "New York/ New Jersey Stadium" since FIFA refuses to acknowledge corporate stadium names. I personally like that better 🤷♂️ the city is better represented. https://www.si.com/nfl/texans/news/nrg-stadium-changing-names-for-2026-fifa-world-cup-houston-texans
hbg.50
Looking back at some of those old posts and articles from 2018 it’s uncanny how much of the speculation came to fruition, like the sites for the semis and final. I had not realized Houston might have a chance to be a hub for officials. I know Dallas is salivating to get the communications center, hub for officials, and home base for one or two teams. That’s the next big announcement expected from FIFA. Quote In Houston, officials with the Harris County Houston Sports Authority and Houston Dynamo rallied to celebrate the vote and look forward to the possibility that NRG Stadium could be a preliminary round host city. “We were contacted by U.S. Soccer so that they could pitch us as a possible site for officials and referees,” Janis Burke, the sports authority’s CEO, said in an email. “That’s a really good sign. “We feel strongly that Houston will be a site to host five to six matches over a 30-day period due to our great success in hosting other marquee soccer events.” Semifinals are projected to be in Atlanta and at AT&T Stadium in Arlington, and the final match is expected to be at MetLife Stadium in East Rutherford, N.J.
