Montrose1100
As much as I dislike the exterior architecture (can stucco with rod iron balconies be considered that?), the interior is even more ghastly. Lamps in the shape of Tuscan monuments, wallpaper everywhere, curtains with enough ruffles and folds to make a dozen ball gowns, and gold pipes in the bathroom... Did I mention the wallpaper? This Hotel is actually one of my new favorite places. The friendliness & service the entire staff makes this place. The Pool is beyond gaudy but it's really spectacular. The Palms, the furniture, real candles, really really spectacular. You almost forget where you are. Until you look above the wall and see the pines. Also when you hear the frogs over the "Corcovado (quiet nights and quiet stars)" on the speakers. I'd like to thank Subdude & Naviguesser for enlightening me to perfect setting of Hotel Bars. Besides Numbers & Chayn's, I don't have the desire to go to nightclubs anymore. It's nice to have a relaxing drink without lines at the door, bar, and bathroom. UtterlyUrban
The restaurant in that hotel is actually quite good.
KinkaidAlum
I've stayed there a few times. Service is top notch and the rooms are really nice. A small number of people actually live there too since some rooms come with full kitchens (think gas Viking range).
UtterlyUrban
I wasn't aware that they had residents. Most likely "extended stay corporate relo, while my house is being built in Piney Point types"? That would be my guess.
KinkaidAlum
Yes. Most "residents" were long-term temporary due to transition (moving, divorce, mistress).
Montrose1100
I'm sad I only saw one confirmed escort. She wasn't even that classy. Blonde wig, brown eyebrows, and the tiniest denim shorts. I was drinking wine and before the glass was empty they poured from the bottle in between sips. The bathroom smelled like heaven. Before anyone takes that out of context, there was a subtle non-invasive or spicy cologne. It was fresh and clean. I assume it's some filter they place on the air vents. Was at the Royal Sonesta before. Been there before but it will be the last. I'll be checking out some others. I have a checklist.
asubrt
Hotel bars are awesome, but unfortunately tend to be pretty pricey. Maybe that's why they're less crowded.
