IronTiger
Passed by 4901 Washington yesterday (Top Dollar Pawn until very recently), and I don't what it was. I thought perhaps it was a Weingarten (not a bad guess: the Weingarten was catty-corner), but it wasn't. I searched Arch-ive.org, and what I got from HCAD was it was built in 1945. Did it used to be anything interesting? The cupola certainly looks kind of cool. I've attached a picture.
Ross
I've seen a picture somewhere, maybe on HAIF, where it was a furniture store.
9075
It was originally a Weiner's store. There is a photo of it on the Houston Deco page.http://www.houstondeco.org/1940s/weiners.html
NenaE
Ah... such nice '40's design. Nice to see anything like that --- still standing in this city.

Michelle C
We lived in West End until the mid 50's and that was where my mom always bought my school clothes. I went to school one block away at Ben Milam elementary. We lived in the 4900 block of Gibson.
