Heightsite
Aside from chronically being over-charged, buying spoiled food that hasn't reached its expiration date and the pompous attitudes of several employees here's my final reason for never shopping Kroger again, http://www.khou.com/news/local/Kroger-apologizes-for-Schaub-tombstone-display-outside-store--227851551.htmlWhat is wrong with the leaders there? kylejack
But more importantly, they lobbied Governor Perry to veto a bill that would allow employees to sue in state court if they're getting unequal pay on account of gender. http://www.google.com/url?sa=t&rct=j&q=&esrc=s&source=web&cd=3&ved=0CDwQFjAC&url=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.houstonchronicle.com%2Fnews%2Fhouston-texas%2Ftexas%2Farticle%2FPerry-vetoed-wage-bill-after-getting-letters-from-4708525.php&ei=pKNdUrbdAcrayAGC0oC4DA&usg=AFQjCNG10gNit6vwN5IiwaV5pVFZv4Avcw&sig2=xsQBpb3yfXymFfXq0xYLng&bvm=bv.53899372,d.aWc&cad=rjaAnd they're not a Texas company, they're headquartered in Ohio. Happy to spend my money at HEB.
IronTiger
There are many reasons to boycott Kroger, but this isn't one of them. Was it insensitive? Yes. Should the employee who OK'd this be fired? Probably. Is this grounds for a private lawsuit? In this day and age, yes. Did the Kroger overlords in Ohio have anything to do with it? No. Nor any other Kroger in Houston (and there are lots of them).
west20th
.....and no silly card to get the "friend" price at HEB.
arche_757
I find HEB and Krogers to have very similar prices. And excluding the produce and more Hispanic food choices at HEB, Krogers generally has a better overall international selection of foods - particularly Asian and Italian. I also find Krogers has better beef (non-butcher case) than HEB. Perhaps its just my neck of the woods where Krogers is better? Who knows? HTX
I split my week between Corpus Christi and Montrose. I miss Kroger when I am in STX, Down here there are only two choices HEB and Walmart they both leave a lot to be desired. Be glad you have so many more grocers that create a competitive market. IronTiger
Perhaps its just my neck of the woods where Krogers is better? Who knows? Both Kroger and H-E-B vary drastically between markets, so one H-E-B can be selling MacBooks (H-E-B Plus, Woodway) and one is selling cheap jewelry (H-E-B, north Bryan). My local Kroger always has had a terrible international selection, consisting of little more than Asian stir fry mixes and Sriracha sauce. arche_757
It must be my local Krogers then? I'm not bashing HEB - they do have superior produce - but my local "super" Krogers is quite nice.
MikeRichardson
I'm more offended that they screwed up the born date for Randalls on S. Voss. That store was established in 1973.
